The Splinter Cell Trilogy should be out by now, and yet fans are still waiting. With no news other than Ubisoft 'confirming it', fans are realizing how badly they want a game like this to play. Something to freshen up multiplayer. We Got This Covered looks at the issue.

Didnt Sony say "HD Collections" are exclusive to them? Now if its released 1 by 1 in PSN/Marketplace, then by all means MS can have it to, But in a collection wise its only for Sony. Royalties, gotta luv em .

I know that Sony is starting to offer HD remastered games on PSN like GoW and soon to come PoP for NA and there's possibility that M$ can do it too via XBL but M$ doesn't have the capability to offer these games on a single DVD like what Sony can with the BD. for example, MoH Frontlines weights at 4GB+ and that's just 1 game. in order to have 2 or more like PS3 HD collections, they will need to be on multiple DVD, right? and just recently M$ was saying that HD remakes is not in their interest or something, so I think it's safe to say that at the moment, HD remakes are only for the PS3.

remakes and upscaled game are totally different! same game but remastered games look miles better! try original GoW for PS2 upscaled and GoW HD remastered and you'll see the HUGE difference between them and not to forget the trophies!

Sorry, but I don't regard any of the MGS games as true stealth games such as Thief. They are "action-espionage games" with heavy emphasis on the former.

the early mgs games gave you the choise of stealth and action espesially 2 but splinter cell is a proper stealth game well apart from the last one my fave was chaos theory oh and loved thief aswell

I agree. Thief is the best stealth IP IMO followed by the previous Splinter Cell games.

I can see why people would go for MGS since stealth doesn't have to be in the dark. You can move stealthily during the day too but still, it's emphasis is not mainlly on stealth as you pointed out.

edit: I don't understand the need for HD versions of multiplats since you can get the original PC version dirt cheap and they'll run on just about any PC in HD. Attach your TV and 360 controller to it and you're good to go.

Absolutely nothing. They'll want to release the HD collection in a time when it's near the release of a current gen version if anything. Look at the ICO collection, which will release to promote The Last Guardian. It's likely there's going to be news of a new Splinter Cell and months before its release the SC HD collection will be released to help promote it (and it will most likely be multiplatform).

I heard somewhere that a new splinter cell is on the works...one that will go multiplatform again so that's cool. I just hope they make an upgrade from the multiplayer on PT or CT, rather than conviction or double agent.

hacking computers while trying to maintain your cover was pretty intense not gonna lie.

One day Ubisoft will (hopefully) realize ruining a franchise is going to cost them more in the long run then starting a new one. You'd think they'd have learned that from Prince of Persia, but nope, then comes Conviction. Its only a matter of time before it happens to Assassins Creed fans as well.

Never could get into the SC series. It, much like Metal Gear, were always too stiff and restrictive for my taste. I did break down and buy POPHD last night, though. And I loath UBI, I just never finished this game back in the day. I got it and XIII the same day and never beat either.

I am guessing they are waiting to announce conviction for ps3 like mass effect and then talk about the collection.

I like the first 2 splinter cell games and then I never finished 3 because it felt like more of the same and i was bored after playing the first couple of missions. Even though a lot of people hated it I actually loved Double Agent and it was one of the very few games that I actually played twice.

You really should finish Chaos Theory. It was the best of the games that truly stuck to the Splinter Cell gameplay formula.

Do you have a PC? You can play the PC version in HD...the game is from 2005 so it shouldn't be that demanding.

I hope they come out with Splinter Cell HD soon. I peersonally liked Splinter cell: conviction, when I was being stealthy, but it was too tempting to start shooting. Playing Chaos theory would be nice in hd, never completed that game.

Splinter Cell was dead to me since Chaos Theory. Double Agent and Conviction do not exist in my world.

I dont remember splinter cell being praised on the ps2 , i used to hear the xbox versions looked way better, so im not sure how im supposed to feel about an hd remake of those ... I'd take a HD Chaos Theory over another Double Agent or Conviction anyday.

I'd take a HD San Andreas over another GTA IV as well.

HD collections rock.
Its the best version you'll ever play, a bonus for fans of the series, and probably more important, a great introduction for those (poor suckers) who missed out the first time.

People need to drop this cynical "its just a money grab" attitude. Id rather pay for an improved version of an old favourite, than pay for DLC cars, street fighters or weapons that should have been in the original game in the first place.

And as for "make new games, not old ones," new games are still being made, and the old ones dont require that much to get them up to HD. And they're not done by the original teams anyway, it can be done by anyone so its not like a brand new game is being put on hold so an old one can be polished up.

Sorry, but I cant see how any real gamer can have a problem with this. My only issue is I want them all to come to retail and not just download. I want them all together on one BluRay, not have to download 6 or 7 GB each game.
