The Splinter Cell Trilogy should be out by now, and yet fans are still waiting. With no news other than Ubisoft 'confirming it', fans are realizing how badly they want a game like this to play. Something to freshen up multiplayer. We Got This Covered looks at the issue.

Kojima.

LOL.

Red_Orange_Juice4908d ago

Too bad it's rumored to be on 360, I'd wish HD Collection were only on PS3.

Fishy Fingers4908d ago

Why? A HD remake isnt exactly going to push any technical boundaries. Being multi wont effect it.

Croash4908d ago (Edited 4908d ago )

Why would you wish that?

For God of War and Sly, it's normal.

But the Prince of Persia trilogy and the Splinter Cell one were not exclusives to PS2.

They could have done it on both PS3 and Xbox360. It would have been better actually.

NYC_Gamer4908d ago

for what?its just old upscaled games

cranium4908d ago

Plus the more people that get to play the game, the better. I mean who would possibly want to withhold a game from millions of people for no reason at all? That's just childish.

Red_Orange_Juice4908d ago (Edited 4908d ago )

just wanted to see how many agrees will I get :P

Red_Orange_Juice, stop being pathetic.

silvacrest4908d ago

and for your silliness expect mass disagrees and lost bubbles

not from me though, i dont care enough...sadly

TreMillz4908d ago

Didnt Sony say "HD Collections" are exclusive to them? Now if its released 1 by 1 in PSN/Marketplace, then by all means MS can have it to, But in a collection wise its only for Sony. Royalties, gotta luv em .

badz1494907d ago (Edited 4907d ago )

I know that Sony is starting to offer HD remastered games on PSN like GoW and soon to come PoP for NA and there's possibility that M$ can do it too via XBL but M$ doesn't have the capability to offer these games on a single DVD like what Sony can with the BD. for example, MoH Frontlines weights at 4GB+ and that's just 1 game. in order to have 2 or more like PS3 HD collections, they will need to be on multiple DVD, right? and just recently M$ was saying that HD remakes is not in their interest or something, so I think it's safe to say that at the moment, HD remakes are only for the PS3.

edit: @Nyc_Gamer

remakes and upscaled game are totally different! same game but remastered games look miles better! try original GoW for PS2 upscaled and GoW HD remastered and you'll see the HUGE difference between them and not to forget the trophies!

What is Gran Turismo 5 afraid of?

Every game released since 2007?

What is Gran Turismo Afraid of?

Lol, go back into your hole.

Akagi4908d ago

Sorry, but I don't regard any of the MGS games as true stealth games such as Thief. They are "action-espionage games" with heavy emphasis on the former.

hennessey864907d ago

the early mgs games gave you the choise of stealth and action espesially 2 but splinter cell is a proper stealth game well apart from the last one my fave was chaos theory oh and loved thief aswell

Raf1k14907d ago (Edited 4907d ago )

I agree. Thief is the best stealth IP IMO followed by the previous Splinter Cell games.

I can see why people would go for MGS since stealth doesn't have to be in the dark. You can move stealthily during the day too but still, it's emphasis is not mainlly on stealth as you pointed out.

edit: I don't understand the need for HD versions of multiplats since you can get the original PC version dirt cheap and they'll run on just about any PC in HD. Attach your TV and 360 controller to it and you're good to go.

seraphcaeli4907d ago

grizzly bears ... I know I am

Christopher4907d ago

Absolutely nothing. They'll want to release the HD collection in a time when it's near the release of a current gen version if anything. Look at the ICO collection, which will release to promote The Last Guardian. It's likely there's going to be news of a new Splinter Cell and months before its release the SC HD collection will be released to help promote it (and it will most likely be multiplatform).

COnviction was s***, it was like playing Ghost recon not splinter cell.

soundslike4907d ago

conviction proved that with high enough production values any piece of shit will sell

Pookers4908d ago

its just another series that started great and now its just being used to get money.... Its a sad day :/

INFECTED5034908d ago

Wasn't conviction released this year? So doesn't seem like hiding! And HD remakes are just money grabs! Don't need them either! Make new games not old ones HD!

IRetrouk4908d ago

but the older sc are a lot better than that new one.

Incipio4908d ago (Edited 4908d ago )

HD remakes would be good for the older splinter cell games, because they were actually quality stealth titles.

irepbtown4907d ago

I agree, And i would like to see San Andreas on PS3/XBOX360. That was a brilliant game aswell, and imagine it in HD?

But i dont think that will happen.

Doctorofreality4908d ago

I heard somewhere that a new splinter cell is on the works...one that will go multiplatform again so that's cool. I just hope they make an upgrade from the multiplayer on PT or CT, rather than conviction or double agent.

It's rough to see Ubisoft complaining about games not being successful etc, while they sit churning out the same games over and over again and leave obvious money sitting on the table by doing franchises like Splinter Cell wrong.

bunt-custardly461d ago (Edited 461d ago )

Whilst I loved the SC multiplayer, I still think they were kind of niche due to the complexity of the maps and learning curve. I wished they made better practice bots though for solo play. Co-op is pretty decent though but not enough players and a very intimate experience. You couldn't really play with randoms who ignore the stealth, so had to play with friends.
