Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed - Fantastic Screenshots emerged

PC Games has fresh screenshots of the recently announced Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed. Check the superb screens of professional racing cars and night races after the jump.

They're hyping this one as well.

Running at just 1/3rd the total resolution of GT5 (GT5: 83M/sec, Shift2: 27.6M/sec), you'd expect at least comparable lighting, shadows, and fill-rate intensive effects like rain, snow, and smoke.

Based on the tiny bit of gameplay in the Shift 2 trailer (final scene), it looks like those aspects of the visuals will continue to be mediocre but the game will sport higher quality motion blur and depth of field effects.

They already have a small track record for overhyping Shift 1. What's to say they won't do it again?

Plus the whole purpose of screenshots was that they can show off the game. GT5 is already in a playable state. They released these shots to try and take some thunder away from it, so it's legit for people to compare it to the game, considering that a person from the team already made a comment against BOTH Forza and GT.

You may cry out fanboys on your end, but I just see a silly fight AGAIN coming up from the devs.

Depending on who they have set up, it could be great, it could be another average. Bottom line though is that they started a slight instigation, so it's fine for people to compare.

Shift is a highly underated game. Must be played with all assists turned off and manual gears or it feels a bit too arcadey. Looks amazing with 3D Vision too. Fist driving game I was able to use cockpit view effectivly and actually see the track up ahead properly.

I bought shift and i hated the game
In my opinion the game failed to try being a simulator type of race game. The handling of every car felt horrible to me.
So im gonna stick to GT5 and the only other car game i plan on getting is Test Drive Unlimited 2.

Since I'm a casual racing gamer, I loved Shift and I particularly enjoyed the modding. However, I'm satisfied with what racing games I have right now so I don't know if I'll pick this one up.

Loved Shift and will love this one I'm sure. After I finish the whole of GT5 by August next year, I'll be ready for more games.

NFS might look good, but the developers havent a clue how a car handles. Playing NFS: shift is like driving a shopping trolly with an M3 skin!

Yeah there was something odd with Shift's handling. Very "heavy" and it felt like your tyres had melted to the road. Despite that though, I didn't mind it.

Hope they fix that for Shift 2. Graphically it is looking quite nice. Still looks like a nice arcade game - not realistic like GT5. I don't know what the developer is on about when he said GT5 has bland graphics. o.O

The first Shift was pretty fun but had it's problems. They have the Burnout developer making this game and if it's using Hot Pursuit's engine then it's going to be a good looking game. Those screenshots alone is making me want to put a preorder on this game.
