IGN: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 Video Game Review

"While I agree The Deathly Hallows games should be more action oriented than the previous installments, I think the developers went a little overboard with the shooting aspect of the title. Nobody wants to run back and forth throughout the same level using shoddy shooting and cover mechanics. EA Bright Light has a lot of work to do if they want to make the sequel worthwhile, and I hope they put in the time to do so because there’s potential for a good Harry Potter game underneath this pile of broken gameplay."

Oh wait...

You know it's too bad, if they had waited another year, they could have released a really great and complete game.

But the fact that the Harry Potter video games have been going downhill simply shows that the developpers have stopped caring about their quality over the years.

After all, it's not like the books or the movies have a lack of content.

I played the Chamber of Secrets when I was 11 and thought it was great fun. It was simple, short, and had a free roamable Hogwarts. Don't they understand that if they just keep movie tie in games extremely simple, but still fun to play they'll have a better audience?!

I had the first, second, third, and even the 4th. I got bored by the 4th, but the second was good. I love the dueling thing.

I played Chamber of Secrets on PC and that was also fun.

I've never played any of the Harry Potter games, well I've tried the demos of the first 2, but I know that when the first 2 games were really enjoyable.

My guess is that as soon as they started making the games more mature because of the story's mood, they failed at capturing the magic that the universe should have.

An adaptation should follow the book's story while having the movie's visuals, but also should recreate the universe and give more life to it, add little things that can only be done with games, things that Rowling couldn't put in her books, because after all, in a game, anything can be done!

Instead of being a failed movie tie-in, this last HP game should have been bigger than any other, not divided into 2 parts, and have an enjoyable gameplay, we've seen what games were released in 2010, they have no excuse to release an awful product like this.

Weren't the 2 Lord of the Ring's games from EA really good? And then, downhill...

Chamber of Secrets & Prisoner of Azkaban, were quality games......

Azkaban had excellent graphics for its time (on the PS2)

I hope Sorcery at least ends up a quality title at least.

NecrumSlavery2990d ago

Me too. It looks amazing. I hope Sorcery can tap into a Fable-like atmosphere. I wouldn't want just a linear game, but an open world game where motion is in everything we do.

When Kinect is actually the only positive thing about a product you know it probably isn't too good...

aviator1892990d ago

I wasn't expecting much anyway. The only harry potter video game I've enjoyed so far is the lego-based one. That was a solid title, but this game looks just plain bad.

HeavenlySnipes2990d ago

now watch as a Harry Potter clone is released and is much better than this crap. I don't know who thought it was a good idea for players to pretend to hit something with a virtual wand without actually holding A WAND o replicate it. You just end up looking like a dumbass slapping the air.
