4 Force Feedback steering wheels to consider for Gran Turismo 5

It has been officially announced that Gran Turismo 5 will be hitting stores on 24 November and because of this there is no better excuse to buy yourself a new force feedback steering wheel to get the most out of the game. 8bitbot has put together a list of what we think are the best steering wheels to go with your Playstation 3.

The Logitech G27 is a very nice wheel/pedal/shifter combo but there is doubt as to whether it will work with GT5.

In GT5P the shifter and paddles don't work for example - so you have to map gear changing to the wheel buttons. Oddly the clutch pedal works if you press Triangle during the race start - an undocumented feature....

The last I heard this same restriction may also be in GT5.

The Logi G25 and DFGT are of course both fine but the G25 is discontinued so may be difficult to find.

Theres some people on GT Planet that reported that the shifter and paddles work in Prologue but the rev lights dont.

i've got Force GT... it's good for a budget gamer like me! q:

EDIT: i'm surprised that G25 is costlier than G27. i thought G27 was costlier.

ebay for the G25. It's the best for cost/performance ratio. Wait a few weeks till after GT5 releases and you should get a better price. I just checked and they are going for 50% more that normal.

There's no point in spending a lot more for very few improvements in the G27 unless your serious, but if you were, you'd have a wheel already.

Once you have tried a G25/27... you can't go back to the the force GT.

I have the G25 and the wheel stand pro just waiting to be molested by GT5

Sunny_D2984d ago (Edited 2984d ago )

Wait, G27 paddles don't work? You are joking right?

Looks fine to me.

Oner2984d ago (Edited 2984d ago )

Yeah whoever said that the G27 is not compatible with GT5P is misinformed. BUT I do have to add that the G25 is still probably the better of the 2 because it retains the sequential shift that is removed within the G27. Plus it's cheaper if you can find one still.

Getting back to the G27 & GT5P just check out some of the vids here for proof ~

All I know is that I'm ready for GT5 with my G25 & Obutto Chassis! ~

Edit: Got it R. The "and" screwed me up.

ryuzu2984d ago (Edited 2984d ago )

He's using the H-shifter - the paddles are behind the steering wheel and used for sequential shifting.

EDIT : Just realised I left a typo in my first post up there - I meant to write Shifter Paddles but I edited it and left "and" in there...

I read an interview with the GT producer a few months back and he said the g27 and the g25 will be fully supported.

Bubz to ryuzi for that little piece of info..haven't read the latest on what's compatible or not

Don't want to spend 400 dollars and thing simply not work..

I bought the official 360 wireless wheel for Forza and it boosted the normal racer experience immensely

Still on the fence for which wheel to purchase for GT5..but this article was actually a good start..the forums have interesting opinions on it too

edit @ Dnied

Yeah..I'd think rolling woth the official wheel would be the safest bet

Dnied2984d ago

G27 will work for GT5 it has been confirmed as 1 of the 2 official wheels for the game......

GT5 was made before G27 came out but it still works fine in that game as well

I saw some wheels at gamestop with GT logo on them but I have no idea what they are called or whether they are any good or not.

nix2984d ago

they are Driving Force GT... and they are great!!! i have one.

GiggMan2984d ago

I was asking myself the same question as to which wheel should I get. It looks like the Driving Force GT for me.
