NowGamer: Dragon Age II Preview

NowGamer: "From now on we’re going to look at the first Dragon Age as an experiment. One to see if old-style RPGs are still viable on console, and one that showed the world that, well – they are. At the same time, it was a game the felt older than it really should have. We expected an old feel, we were presented with both that and some decidedly aged technology backing the whole thing up. This time around it looks like BioWare are set to continue the feel while bringing the actual game experience up to the standards we expect."

Dumbed down RPG-lite casual games Dragons Age and Fable can never compete with the level of success enjoyed by developers of classic action RPG's like Fallout: New Vegas so it makes no business sense whatsoever that Bioware & Lionhead do not deliver content on a par with Fallout's gameplay, stature and maturity when they're more than capable of doing so.

It's a bit like Steven Spielberg deciding to give up making epic feature films to concentrate solely on a teenage drama series.

Whilst obviously still successful, they're (Bioware/Lionhead) clearly missing out BIG TIME on the highest levels of financial & critical success waaaay over and above anything their compromised games can achieve as the below statistic will show.

"Bethesda Softworks has announced that its recently-launched title, Fallout: New Vegas, has enjoyed record sales, reflecting the huge consumer demand for the game. Five million units of the game were shipped worldwide for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows-based PC with a heavy volume of digital downloads, representing well over $300 million in retail sales. In addition, the Fallout: New Vegas strategy guide was one of Amazon's best sellers among all books.

"We are delighted by the reception Fallout: New Vegas has received from fans around the world," said Vlatko Andonov, president of Bethesda Softworks. "Despite the large launch quantities for this title, we have already received substantial re-orders from our retail partners, underscoring the tremendous popularity of this highly entertaining game. We believe Fallout: New Vegas will be the 'must buy' title for gamers throughout the holiday season."
