Wiiloveit.com: Pre-Release Thoughts on DanceDanceRevolution (Wii)

"Ever since the new DDR was announced for Wii, I've been giddy with anticipation, waiting for news on this new endeavour. It's been commented by NAOKI himself that both this and the new DDR for PS3 are "reboots" to the franchise, signifying that Konami may be re-approaching how they handle future console releases. Hopefully these new seemingly-more complex hand motions work well without detracting from the normal experience. However, that's not where my concerns lie at this point. With only a few days until release, there are a few things that are nagging me with how they're handling it." -- Wiiloveit.com

What If... DanceDanceRevolution Wii Returned to Using Covers?

"Unlike the games that came before it, DanceDanceRevolution Hottest Party 3 was the first game in this franchise sub-series to feature master tracks instead of covers. This resulted in step charts that had good flow but were also dumbed down in terms of difficulty. By comparison, although the license charts in the first game may have been awkwardly-set at times, as a whole they were endearing because of how challenging they were to play. Since then, Konami has released DanceDanceRevolution Wii (a.k.a, DDR 2010), which supposedly plans to set a new standard for future iterations to come. For better or for worse, they have decided to continue with the trend present in Hottest Party 3 with regards to the licenses. Thankfully, the charts this time around provide a stronger punch than what was seen in the preceding game. However, in all honesty, I still really miss having covers." -- Wiiloveit.com

Wiiloveit.com: DanceDanceRevolution - Wii Review

"Konami's incredibly successful franchise has definitely gone through some rapid changes since they brought it over to the Wii. But for one reason or another, Konami has decided to reboot the franchise with a completely new game with its own distinct face. Simply called "DanceDanceRevolution&quo t; in North America (but, oddly enough, is labelled as "Hottest Party 4" in EU), the developers hope this title will put them back on the overall grid, but with whom exactly?" -- Wiiloveit.com
