FFXIV: Three 'large scale updates' fully detailed‎

Final Fantasy XIV, you may have heard by now, isn't very good at all. Square seemingly knows this, and while we don't expect a few patches to revolutionise anything, it will certainly help.

Square's put out a huge list of changes it plans to implement in two "large scale version updates", coming in November, December and one in 2011.

Jeez. I just better not get slapped with a huge update the moment I put the disc into the PS3. I'm hoping it will already be like that and won't be a repeat of FFXI with it's 9 or so hours long updates. :/

Anyway glad they saw their error and are trying to fix the problem.

Anyway, the only good update I expect for FF XIV is FF XV or XVI...

Nope, Final Fantasy XIV for PS3 is still on track for a March 2011 release.

Lucky for SE, The decision for them to delay the PS3 version turned out to be a good move, considering the way the PC version is being poorly received. That way PS3 users don't have to DL major updates.

this is bad news in a any form. the game is in serious jeopardy now that people are not playing the PC version.

have you never played a MMO before? this is standard practice.

and how long was FFXI out before you installed it for the first time? you should expect a big update the frirt time you play. again its a MMO...

why would they say that they need to regain our trust. I mean if that is the case why would they put it out in its current state? Seems odd really, but at this point I don't think people should be jumping on the wagon to play this game if they are not already playing it. To be fair I do have the game. Funny thing is its actually on my shelf sitting in the case, wrapper still on. Bought the collector's edition...uh yeah after playing the beta I was really sad for this title.

Not sure I want to even waste time with it. I'll probably give it a shot say a year from now. Then again...maybe I can sell the game to gamestop or something.

Hope they fix the PS3 version. Hope it gets better reviews then. I really want to play this game on my PC and PS3 but the reviews have been universally bad! :(

What the hell? Just rehire Enix America and let them work on Dragon Warrior, while Square Soft develops Squaresoft? Just imagine all the great rpgs' that we never played since the aquisition. I'm at a sore loss as a gamer.

I have not enjoyed fully any Square-Enix game, I mean, some are nice(KH2) but its just a build up from Squaresoft's doings. It just does not feel like the quality is on par with their past.
Final Fantasy series is on a downhill. What happened after FFX? An MMO. Then FFXII and FFXIII which i do not consider as a FF game. Here's to hoping that FF Versus XIII and Tetsuya Nomura's team can bring a fresh change of air to the company, as they need it.

The list of updates is still not enough to make me want to pay for this game. I've been playing solid since the C/E release and personally, I find it boring. It's obvious in too many ways just how lazy they were in putting this title together.

The problem they're going to have in getting this monstrosity to take off is that people wanted a new FFXI. It was an excellent game and people were hoping this would be FFXI-Plus. It wasn't. They removed pretty much everything people loved about the original game and in their effort to create a "better world", created something that is boring, frustrating and just not fun.

I hate to put this game down but too many people have already left and a lot more will be leaving at the end of this month because these patch notes fail to address most of the "Common" questions players want to know about. Auction Houses, Chocobos, Moghouses, etc. etc.

I'll check back in 6 months or a year to see if they redesigned things enough to make this one worth paying for but for now, I won't sink any money into this flop.

I would highly disagree.

These updates fix about 90% of the issues with the game as it stands.

People who are waiting for a auction house are really starting to annoy me. They are not adding one. They are doing what they can to make the market wards work and with the upcoming search feature and other things being planned for the future there really won't be a need for one.

The main reason they will not add one is because of what RMT did to the economy in FFXI and the system FFXIV has now won't allow that to happen as players are in 100% control.

And while I do agree that it's retarded we have not heard anything about chocobo's or Airhip's being added that's of little concern thanks to update making teleporting alot easier and cheaper.

And while mog houses are not mentioned guild headquarters and ships ARE and if you ask me those would most likely function almost the same.

Having been playing the game since the open beta i have to say that the stuff they are adding in the next few updates will change the game completely. By the time the PS3 version comes out it won't even be the same game.

That's a pretty huge amount of updates... Could help things, but they should've really released a game that was so incomplete in the first place. I reckon by the middle of next year this game will be up to scratch. Maybe they should withdraw it from shelves and just work on it some more...

There's definitely some game changers in there, plus they'll be adding more updates in the future. SE can't let this one flop so look for it to get much better over time. As for me, I'll be waiting on the Ps3 version to see what it's all about.
