I don't know how the school system work in your country, but over here:

A = 90% and above (BioShock, Gears of War, Oblivion, Metroid Prime 3, Twilight Princess -- the "must have" or "9 out of 10 people would love it, but 1 weirdo would hate it" category; considered as "killer app" or "system seller" if it's an exclusive; PS3 currently does not have a single exclusive in this category.)

B = 80%~89% (Dead Rising, The Darkness, Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Viva Pinata, Warhawk -- the "it's good but not great or must-have" category)

C = 70%~79% (Blue Dragon, Lost Planet -- the "love it or hate it" category)

D = 60%~69% (Lair, Shadowrun -- the "9 out of 10 people would hate it, but 1 weirdo would love it" category)

F = Below 60% (the "don't even bother" category)

Right now, PS3 desperately need some games -- i.e., exclusives -- in the "A" category to move some consoles off the shelves. "B" is good but not enough.

You do not look at one or two reviews. You do not "cherry pick" the reviews you like and ignore all the other reviews because they give low scores to games that YOU desperate want to be great.

You look at the trend. The consensus. The OVERALL review scores. The mean. The average.

If one or two reviews say it's bad, then they could be biased or wrong.

However, if you look at ALL the reviews -- i.e., the *reputable, respected* reviews, then a consensus emerges; then you get a good, unbiased, objective overview of how a game really is.

I'm thinking of buying this game because it sounds so good, however I just can't stick with multiplayer games. I mean, I play them for a few weeks then they collect dust. I played Gears and everyone loves that multiplayer but I haven't touched that game in months. I like the idea of Warhawk, but I will wait until I can get it used.

Resistance, Warhawk, Sigma, Motorstrom are great titles. Heavenly Sword is a good addition to a PS3 owners library though not in Resistance's league as far as Im concerned.

BUT they are plently of reasons for someone to buy a PS3, becuase the average consumer does not sit around all day reading reviews about which games are "AAA" or killer aps. but they general have a good idea of which games are popular AND well recived by critics for a system.

thats why this holiday season kids are going to buy 360's for Halo 3 and not Bioshock. and frankly I think thats pretty sad that such a great title isnt getting the attention it deserves.

I have 5 friends who all pre ordered Halo 3, only one has Bioshock and 3 of them never heard of it. but they all owned gears at one point.

So far, mainstream media and publications have ignore less-than-stellar titles like Heavenly Sword, Lair and Warhawk. Only the bestest video game titles get mentioned by the mainstream.

Now, the average consumers do not read gaming magazines and websites. However, they do read TIME, New York Times, USA Today, Newsweek, CNN, and MSNBC. Only games that get exceptional reviews in gaming magazines and websites get to mentioned by mainstream magazine in a special article. Right now, the mainstream media and publications have just started mentioning BioShock and how it is revolutionary or insightful and worth a look.

Your "average consumers" may not pay attention to gaming magazines and reviews. But they sure do pay attention to TIME, NY Times, USA Today, Newsweek, CNN, and MSNBC.

u get used to the controls with flying the damn plane.... but everything else is sweet..blowing a warhawk with only grenades is super sweet....i been playing it just need more practice flying and shooting at the same time.....this is not ur regular FPS most ppl are always on their warhawks thats where u get to to barrel rolls and do loops to avoid those damn missiles ><'. but overall its a buy....but beware of the learning curve with the flight controls unless its just my damn uncoordinated hands hehehe and if u do buy it hope to see u in the skies.. while i blast u with AAA guns

Ya I can not survive in the planes. No matter what I try I can never shake the damn missiles. But to me the most fun is getting a sniper rifle and flying yourself to the top of a hill/rock, oh man that can be so fun. That is until a warhawk comes by and ruins it for ya :(, lol

your six axis motion sensing, twist it as you tilt your right stick in either direction and you will see some pretty creative maneuvering. The easiest way to get someone off ur ass is to cut as many sharp turns as you can. Basically get yourself going in the opposite direction after a roll and most of the time it's too steep a turn for your attacker to follow.

for about three years now, but Warhawk has officially debunked it. Good thing too since I just sold my Xbox about a month ago (-tear-).

Once you start to master the controls and strategy for the vehicle and weapon types (and there are a LOT of them) the game really starts to open up. I had my doubts about there only being 5 maps, but they are absolutely enormous (around 5 minutes just to run from end to end) and depending on the maximum amount of players, the levels are structured off accordingly.

I try pretty hard to find servers with 30~32 players because that's the kind of action I love to immerse myself in. The cool thing about Warhawk is that it's like finding a career. There's a lot of careers to choose from within the title, and it's completely up to the player which ones to pursue. It took me a few days to really figure out a dedicated job within Team Deathmatch, but I've pretty much stuck with Turrets since it allows me to assist both the ground troops and pilots on my team.

Limited number of vehicles (3), limited number of weapons(8), not so great controls (I am not talking about sixaxis, I am talking about the fixed placement of keys. ie: you can't change them), limited number of maps (5)....

I played for 2 days now, half my stats aren't being recorded... that kind of pisses me off. Also bad thing is CTF there's team kill, so ur teammates always trying to tk you for your flag. Overall makes the experience not as great as advertised...

Then there's split screen online, the second player can't be another account of the PS3, so he/she won't be getting any stats. Fk the stats, you can't even play of the rank server with split screen...

I was in a dogfighting server and was killing pilots for over 3 hours (until 3.00am!!!!) to the tune of Topgun's "Highway to the Danger Zone" as my PC is connected to the same speakers as my PS3 lol!!! Bloody good fun! That is my definition of an AAA game....fun!!!. This, Halo 1 and Resistance has made me now love multi-player games!!

Just because a game with a smaller storage usage, is getting better scores, doesn't mean we dont need more space.

Blu-ray's capacity IS needed for the game evolution, so we can have more variated and higher detailed textures, better sound quality, and overall, more content in the huge AAA titles.

Warhawk is a GREAT multiplayer game, where each small map is bucket load of fun... but when it comes to the bigger epic games, with great history, huge worlds and stuff like that, space IS needed. I think its logic to everyone here. At least if we want to have more than a couple of game genres..

..hell, lets skip the dvd, CD's with 800mb seems to be enough, according to you :p ...

Phil Harrison said it would need BR. That was before they decided to go exclusively MP. Who knows what it would have been otherwise.

The fact that it is so small and amazingly good goes to show you that sony has more tricks in its hat then you might think. It also has plenty of room for patches, expansions and updates. Although I dont think it will ever really be needed except on very few points.

BR was not needed for this but you know what that does. Shows how bad ass and simple they can make their games. Don't need 3 years of insane money spending and hype, hype, hype, campaigning and commercialism(Halo3) to win. The experimentation on the PS3 is astounding.

HS, Warhawk, KZ2, UT3, Little big planet, MGS4, and many others. These on the PS3 are all breaking new ground in the game industry in some way. May not all be the best to play, May not be a cookie cutter commercial game (Halo) but they are pushing more and trying new things. Thats exciting. What is there on 360. Halo3?... We'll see how good that is. I honestly do hope its good. Really I do. I do not however see anything new, Groundbreaking or original about it. Bioshock either for that matter. ME maybe good. but I'm not that stoked for an unfamiliar SciFi game. Blue dragon and Two worlds were a let down. nothing new and interesting.

Bioshock was a good story. Absoloutely nothing else to me was really that great... Lack of MP and seriously short. It was fun once. Thats it really. I own a 360 and have not turned it on and don't plan to until Halo(Midnight releases are fun =P) Which I really am looking forward to and I am not a fan boy just sticking up for others agains't idiots. I even wrote a review knocking the bad points on WH you can see if you look at my history.

Truth is the fact that WH is small and amazingly good in surround sound on my 56 inch HD TV. It blows any other MP game I have ever played out of the water. Thats saying something. Better then Halo2 imo, Better then Gears, better then battlefield, World of Warcraft... Its fun, addictive and just, as Paul Barnett would say, "Ewww... Kewl"

Basically the fact that it is so small is impressive to say the least as the levels are huge and jam packed with stuff... Amazing job all around.

Nobody said Blu-ray was needed for EVERY GAME. It's simple... some games do need it, and those will be impossible on your favorite console. Like heavenly sword, LAIR, Uncharted, Killzone, MGS4, FFXIII and so on. Hell, don't go to exclusives, the Darkness has features you can't see on Xbox 360; GTA4 and 2 days 2 vegas will be constrained thanks to DVD9.

Warhawk is a great game! I mean GREAT! I give it a 9.3... and isnt that all that counts? People who havent played the game can tell you whatever they like, reviewers can say whatever they like, until you get the game in your hands then it means nothing. Since the psm review was a 6.5 (complete and utter BS, anyone who has played it knows this) I throw out the median scores. Outliers in either direction screw everything up. or are you just a sheep? Just because a small segment of the game industry, i.e. game journalists give it an 8+ score "on average", "on consensus", "overall", "the mean", it doesn't mean it's actually better than that.

The truth is, you could say game journalists have a bias. Since games are actually for everyone to enjoy, not just for journalists and/or gamers, I think every "metascore" on the net should be taken with a grain of salt. The thing is, gamers are placing too much weight on metascores. Metascores should only be small guidelines for what to expect.

Besides... game journalists are not even consistent. Some say games should be reviewed according to their price, others say otherwise. Some that say they should, are hypocrites because they don't always apply that metric. Furthermore, all gamers rate games based on different things.

GAmeplay shouldn't even be rated just as "gameplay" to begin with, since gameplay could be A.I., physics, interactivity, presentation, and to some it could be graphics. Furthermore, some gamers don't put emphasis solely on gameplay. Having an "overall" game score assumes everyone has the same preferences as the magazines.

There are many sections of the games that should be reviewed separately, and GameSpot has something called "medals" that is a good start. To some gamers "graphics" is the most important part. To others sound. To others storyline. Physics, A.I., game mechanics, realism, etcetera. Hell, "art direction" could be pleasing to some, and to others disgusting (either too realistic, or too cartoonish; how do you define what's "good" and what's not?).

That's how games should be reviewed. That way gamers use their own self-consistent metric according to their preferences based on the scores of the particular portions of the game. That would benefit everyone so much. If that was the way games were reviewed, then Warhawk would be bought almost immediately by everyone that cares only or mostly about multiplayer... and LAIR to those that love storylines, graphics whores and audiophiles, regardless of the not so great SIXAXIS controls.
