Cambridge Studios Working On “A New Game In A High Profile, Multi-Million Selling Franchise” For PS3

While it has been rumored for a while that Sony’s Cambridge Studios are working on a PlayStation 3 game, what that title actually is remains unknown, with some people speculating that the developer is working on a new Move game for the casual market. Now, a job listing has emerged that has revealed that Cambridge Studios are working on “a new game in a high profile, multi-million selling franchise”.

Medievil was never a huge series. I'm thinking Syphon Filter. I also know it's not Jersey Devil, Primal, Mark Of Kri or Ghost Hunter; no matter how slick they were.

doctorstrange4925d ago

But I'm pretty sure Sony Bend are making syphon filter, so maybe The Getaway, hmmm

Freak of Nature4925d ago (Edited 4925d ago )

I would agree that "the Getaway" would be the odds on favorite game they could be working on, however.....

I sure wish it would be Medievil with an all out full effort and push, done full tilt with no short-cuts.A new gen act/adv platformer with all of the PS3 power backing it.... Destruction Derby too would be something I would love to see....

RememberThe3574925d ago

Destruction Derby is old and not really needed since Sony already has Twisted Metal coming and Motor Storm on a biannual release schedule.

I also wouldn't take Syphon Filter out of Sony Bend's hands. We all know that Socom isn't the same when Zipper doesn't make it, and I think the same would be said for SP if an other studio tried to take it on.

I don't think it's Medievil just because of how it wasn't a huge franchise, and how the remake didn't do well on PSP. However the studio seems to like the series and I wouldn't mind seeing a PS3 installment.

The Getaway seems to have the most potential in terms of sales and critical reception. So I'm going with that. But really for all I know it could be Heavenly Sword 2.

ChronoJoe4925d ago

It's medievil.

This isn't the first time, in a while that this has cropped up. This has been a recurring rumour for 4 months.

Anyway, this could be really, really cool if they do it right. As in, not top down like the old medival games... and hopefully a more sensible combat mechanic. The old medievil games just involved spamming one button, and mixing it up with heavy attacks for different enemies... it was a bore.

This is quite the difficult one to gauge.
On one hand it cant' be a Cambridge IP (medieval/ Primal/ Ghosthunter etc) cause none of there games would be classified as multi-million.

It also can't be Syphon Filter 5 cause a slip up from the mo cap team revealed it was Sony Bend (besides its their franchise now)

I'll agree on The Getaway, but it would be disappointing to see London not do it: but they're clearly working on the new Eyepet and the new Singstar titles about it be released.

Of course... Cambridge have been known to help on high profile titles, like Heavenly Sword and Killzone 2.

haha definitely a tough one. Hopefully they do get back to exploring their older IP's though: lots of potential there.

jack_burt0n4925d ago (Edited 4925d ago )

All the psygnosis IP gets no love whatsoever except for wipeout.

Colony wars, g police, alundra, medievil could all be awesome on ps3 >_<

But this is Heavenly Sword 2.

Medievil unfortunately i just dont think has broad enough appeal to go up against similar titles like sorcery even though move enabled medievil would be win.

what cambridge need to work into heavenly sword 2 is comedy undead knights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and talking pumpkins!

showtimefolks4925d ago

one of those would be nice since london studios are woking on may move titles both of these titles were about 50% done so soemone has to complete them

i think sony has so many exclusives that's why we have not heard many new exclusives since E3 2011 so so jammed pack

if you a ps3 fan you don't even have to buy any 3rd party games that's how many exclusives are coming for all kind of gamers

but there are also some great AAA 3rd party titles coming out in 2011 dues-ex can't waite

callahan094925d ago

Damn you for reminding me of Primal. That game was a masterpiece. One of the absolute best on PS2, and that's saying something because PS2 had a TON of quality games.

Lifewish4925d ago

Medievil would still be a great game to see.

doctorstrange4925d ago

Except, that's the one thing we know they aren't working upon

JETTTTTT MOOOOOOTTTTTOOOOO!

GoldPS34925d ago

I would like for Jet Moto and Cool Boarders to come back

i_am_interested4925d ago

singstar, yeah im calling it unfortunately

KiasuKiasiMan4925d ago

Singstar is London Studio's baby, so I doubt Cambridge will take it.

RememberThe3574925d ago

Sony's London Stuidos are supposed to be working on tons of Move titles so it could be that Cambridge is picking up some of the load.

Not to bad.

whitbyfox682d ago

Gravity Rush 1 and 2 are amazing can you believe the guy who created Silent Hill created these.

PixelOmen682d ago

Gravity Rush 2 is probably the most underrated game on PS4.

DarXyde682d ago

Agreed. And it was definitely top 5 on the platform for me. Genuinely loved how charming the series is/was.I loved it so much that I Platinumed it twice (Gravity Rush 2 and its Japanese variant, Gravity Daze 2).
Such a lovely series. I say this once every 3 or so months, but Sony committed the gravest sin in my eyes by dismantling my favorite Sony studio, Japan Studio and I really had a hard time forgiving that.

Absolute classics, both Gravity Rush 1 & 2.
