"Comprehensive" Fallout: New Vegas Patch Will Hopefully Fix A Broken Game

Fallout: New Vegas is pretty fun when it's not breaking down on you. Problem is, that happens a lot. Hopefully a "comprehensive" patch due for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in the "coming weeks" will fix that.

While there's sadly no firmer timeframe on when to expect what for many will be a game-saving remedy, we do know the 360 version's save game issue should be fixed, "along with a number of other issues being reported".

Playing on PS3, I've had only 2 freezes so far in about 30 hours of play time. I also read that it gets worse as the game goes on though, so knock on wood.

Not all of my numerous saves were wrecked, but most of them were.

Manual save, quick save, auto save - each type was affected. Supposedly this was at least partially patched...

I'm sure a lot of people had no problems, and that's great. But if you scour the forums you'll see boatloads of poor suckers like me...

Too bad. It's an awesome game, but this set me back 24 hours of gameplay (grrrr).

Waiting for the inevitable GOTY edition looks more wise every day.

Be weary of the GOTY edition. With this engine, the GOTY edition has been the worse version of the game to get.

GOTY version of Fallout 3 was buggier than Fallout 3 original release.

I've never bought a GOTY edition before, so my running assumption was that they would've inevitably worked out the bugs by the time that edition rolled out. Guess that proves the theory about assuming anything, aye?

Sad that they wouldn't have GOTY releases polished the best of the bunch...

i hadn't had any significant problems during my first 30hrs, but now being closer to 60hrs the game is indeed regularly acting funky. after i loaded an autosave which gave me a completely different character and put me in goodsprings with no gear, i pretty much back up my saves after each session now.

What you think Fallout:Vegas is? It's using same engine, character model, event same voice for some scenario.

It's be done over and over and over and over and over and over! Can Activision really be so talentless that they cannot think of something new?! There have been so many layers of new paint on the COD franchise that you know exactly what you are going to get everytime!

At least in Fallout: New Vegas there is a storyline to follow. The COD games have just a series of fights against AI and a tiny bit of Narrative.

I have about 50 hours playthime and the game has frozen twice , not a big deal for me but i know others have had problems. Only thing i really want is PS3 players to get the DLC that 360 owners will be getting.

About the occasional freezes, but what does annoy me is how I can't even finish the game because the For The Republic, Part II quest is buggy as hell.

Agreed. This is a widely reported issue that I also experienced too many times. One of the lamest bugs you can have with any software is repeated lockups that force you to reboot your system to break out of it.

I've played 150 hours on one character and have only experienced one freeze, though I'm starting to see longer mini-freezes and long loading times. Maybe it's because my 360 was on for 2 days...

Already traded it...really not as good as Fallout 3. Some cool aspects, but the whole game felt lifeless and abandoned. I just killed everything and didn't really care what side I was on (waaay too many groups, factions, items, etc...)

I mean, in Fallout 3 I made bottle cap mines, the railroad gun, the flaming sword, etc....In New Vegas, I played on Hardcore mode the whole way without making a single mine/gun etc...what the hell is Hardcore about that?

Sure, I could have made the experience "more wasteland like" but, I didn't need to do that in Fallout 3, it sorta just happened.

Pretty much I was always waiting for something cool to happen in New Vegas, and it never happened. And then the game ended...oh well. I don't think I'll buy another title from Bethesda (or whoever, their name is on the box) unless it's another Elder Scrolls game.
