Quoting Nintendo Life's Trevor Chan:
"The Empire career mode fails at capturing the player's imagination and reduces itself to an arbitrary sequence of meaningless setlists. Luckily, players aren't going to be playing the game to imagine what it's like to go from an up-and-comer to a superstar DJ ― they're playing to enjoy the excellent soundtrack which, fortunately, has the gravitas to sweep minors issues under the carpet. The various difficulty settings once again do a wonderful job of offering players with varying skill-sets to enjoy the game whilst still challenging themselves and a revamped list of mulitplayer modes will offer friends plenty of fun in the living room."
