PSX Extreme: "Maybe it’s just because I’ve played a whole lot of mediocrity recently. Maybe it’s because I really felt the need to kick back with a fun, entertaining title that is just plain charming to behold. Maybe it’s because I have a thing for quick downloads that offer a great deal of gameplay for only $15 (still one-quarter the price of a new full title)."
Phoenix Down is hosted by Drew Leachman and Matt Quinn. Each segment focuses on an older game the duo decides upon with another member of the ZTGD crew or special guest. They play through and discuss the mechanics and how well it holds up today. It is the ultimate in backlog elimination.
The boys reach 100 episodes while discussing this unique title.

GF: Games with Gold vs. PlayStation Plus is back for another round for the month of September. Summer is leaving and Fall has now arrived. Even though this season boasts a lot of heavy hitters to pick up, who does not want free games and discounts? Let’s take a look what the two services have to offer and which comes out on top and give you a bang for your buck.
Here we go again...
MS offers free games and Sony does too...
Can't we just be happy rather than comparing?
i wish i wouldve known xbox was giving away such value like monaco, i already spent 99 cents on it for pc. #humblegameswithgold
For the month of September, Xbox hands down. And as for October, so far I am going with Xbox but I have to see what PlayStation is offering.
Games with gold vs PS plus is not entirely fair.
Compare plus games first 12 months, we have had titles like deus ex, mass effect, DMC, BioShock, uncharted, battlefield, saints row, demon souls, xcom, Catherine.... list goes on... but as it goes on, future titles added are less likely to be as epic due to not putting up the same games. Although, we have a few others to look forward to I'm sure, but gold has mostly first timers bring added.
That's last gen. 2015 will be interesting to see the likes of infamous, assassins creed, kill zone go up vs ryse, Titanfall etc as this gen its an even playing field, both consoles are out of the gates together.
Hardcore Gamer: The third Reboot bundle is now available, and while it lacks anything involving the early'00s CG show, it does contain some games for a minimal fee. For the first 48 hours of the deal, so until Wednesday, you can get Rune Classic, X Blades, Hoard Complete Pack, Ion Assault, Knights and Merchants, and Planets Under Attack for only $2.
On a related note, you know that there's something wrong with the industry and consumer awareness, when we think that $15 is some sort of steal.
Maybe it's because I have two mortgages now, or I'm just more aware of money and it's ups and downs, but $15 isn't cheap. That's 1/10 the grocery budget for the house for a week. Or 1/10 of the phone and cable bills. The one thing that I have come to appreciate more and more about MMOs, iOS and indie games is the price to value ratio.
While value is subjective, you can pick up some amazing games these days for cheap. Console publishers need to rethink the way that they're headed with pricing, DLC, costume packs and all that other $hit, or they'll price themselves right out of the market.
