Japanese Retailer In Gran Turismo 5 Release Date Shenanigans

Gran Turismo 5 was supposed to be out in March 2010, but it was delayed. The new release date changed to November. Then the game was delayed again to this "holiday season". Not very specific!

Sony hasn't officially revealed the release date yet, but Japanese online retailer DMM.com went ahead and dated the title.

Well...

Good time for Christmas though.

gets into the holiday season without an official date the worse it looks for a 2010 release. I am almost inclined to think that SONY is weighing whether they should release it this year. There is a lot of planning that comes into a big titles official release date and to just suddenly say it's coming out does not help sales. Also they need to give retailers at least three weeks notice with a release date so they can advertise it. Look what happened Sunday with some retailers advertising GT5...

I don't pay attention to what retailers say, nor do I pay attention to what sites that quote what retailers say.

For instance, this report says that it was meant to be out in March 2010. Yeah, if you believe Amazon and Play.com!!!

This journo obviously doesn't know who to get in touch with regarding release dates, so here is tip for him... the Devs!

Sony gave the release date for March 2010, for Japan anyway. That was confirmed, then delayed, then November 2, and now another delay. Will this game come out please!?

@Jake360,
As you said, the March release date only applied to Japan. Nov was the first release date in the US/Europe. So GT5 has only seen one delay outside Japan.

Give me GT5 or give me death!

Hideo_Kojima3278d ago

I got a tiny heart attack cause I thought the description said it would come out in March 2011 in Japan.

Few...
So no matter what happens I can have it before 2011 because I can always just import.

COMBOBREAKER!
On topic, Gran Turismo as a series has sold over 50 million copies worldwide. That's a huge number for any video game series, but for a racing simulation (these game's are typically for a niche market) that's absolutely amazing.
