Whatever, still a whole lot.

aliveinboston3128d ago

How many were replaced by extra warranties that you buy? Those all count as SALES.

Something to think about.

nix3128d ago (Edited 3128d ago )

oh... how this is gonna go. i'm guessing the amount sold in 'rest of the world' is negligible. well, i hate to say it but no more "salez" game, i guess from this point!

and oh.. god i miss Open Zone.

BX813128d ago

Why is it something to think about? It's not like you or I, see any money from these sales!

nix3128d ago

so i've been thinking... in just less than 24 hrs the 360's 3 million lead has come crashing down to 400k... wow.. like wow! oh i would to love to see vgchartz' face. obviously, they still think that they are right!

aliveinboston3128d ago

You're saying we shouldn't think about yabout the sales numbers so why are you commenting on this article about sales numbers?

prunchess3128d ago

just knew we'd see some 360 hardware totalsthis week after the PS3 numbers.

nix3128d ago (Edited 3128d ago )

only they can save 360 now! i have even got th phrase ready... 3rd60!!! you heard it here first!! q:

seriously who would have thought it would be this early.

DeadIIIRed3128d ago

Well if they replace consoles for free under warranty then it would probably be recorded under their sales returns and allowances. For all of the people that replaced their units without a warranty that should go under some type of revenue, but I get your point. That 42 million doesn't mean a 42 million strong user base by far.

NecrumSlavery3128d ago

who knows whats up...btw according to vgchartz, the PS3 out sold the 360 world wide by 80k.

VGCraptz should pack up and look for another job. Al they do post lies upon lies to make the 360 look good.

Thanks Major Nelson for this post.

Lets do the math now.

42,000,000 360's

41,600,000 PS3's

400,000 units worldwide

The unadulterated, no bull crap, true and official figures from Microsoft and Sony.

No bias no nonsense.

The Raging Battle Against The M$chine has been won.

Next stop for PS3: Nintendo Wii!

Here is my summation!

edit: an now the Xbox fanboys are blaming Major Nelson for posting low numbers? Wow just wow. Where does their loyalty lie on Microsoft or just trolling?

So 33% failure rate on the first half say 24 mill = 16 mill good , 8 mill broke, 8 more mill bought again , then the new ones had a 16% failure rate so say 20 mill = 17,800. Thou and 3,800 thou broke and 3,800 thou had to rebuy.... Minus people who houses burned down from overheating which they might have owned more than 2, im not good with math but lets say...... 11.8 mill are out of the equation , help me out if yur a nerd--- how many are there really? Strange thing is my bro still has his launch 360 , i wanna play it it but , i aint gonna fork out $200 if it breaks on me' soo ill even buy games he owns on it for my ps3 just to avoid that

EeJLP-3128d ago

Who says 17,800 thou instead of 17.8 mil?

or 3,800 thou instead of 3.8 mil?

when you started of with 20 mil (mill) units...

Hideo_Kojima3128d ago

He said his not good at math but he is still right...

Lets be realistic there are more working PS3s than 360s in peoples households.

pixelsword3128d ago

Bull5hifT, you may be onto something; I never considered that...

saint_john_paul_ii3129d ago

wait, so its not 44 Million, but 42 Million?? WTF?

units3129d ago (Edited 3129d ago )

not shipped

techie3128d ago

There's still no way they can know sold to matter what you think. He said '35 countries' I guess there's a few more in the others :)

HuGi3129d ago (Edited 3129d ago )

Where are the other 2.5M coming from ??

morganfell3129d ago (Edited 3129d ago )

Apparently there isn't another 2.5 million. If accurate that would put them barely ahead of Sony. We'll see if Major Nelson corrects his blog or those numbers stand.

EDIT @logikil above, didn't check that post date. Major Nelson is a multi device communicator. Normally he would have corrected that in some way. I saw where you posted the question on his blog.

BeOneWithTheGun3128d ago

This is the 3rd post I have seen Evil use his only bubble to bitch at Morgan. Let it go, brother. It's just the Internet.

Oner3128d ago

@ HuGi ~ while on the topic of Countries...there is is an additional factor that people are forgetting. The PlayStation family of products are sold in more than 120 countries and regions. A much greater base for sales and 2009 Attachment Rates along with 2010 console & attachment rates support Sony is making a killing.

SMW3129d ago

Wait wasnt the PS3 at 41? Does this mean the console race is for all intents and purposes tied, and we can go back to bashing Nintendo?

raztad3129d ago (Edited 3129d ago )

That 41+ may be shipped to retailers.

I was wondering about xbox sold to consumer figures. 2.5m sounds an awful lot of units sitting on shelves. I'm having a hard time believing the PS3 has 2m and the xbox 2.5m collecting dust at retail, but this guy has very reliable info so perhaps those numbers are not far off.

BulletToothtony3128d ago

you think that 2.5 million is a lot of units sitting on shelves?

spread across 25 countries on 10s of thousands of stores? sounds about right to me

suckerpunch3128d ago (Edited 3128d ago )

in 35 countries ! the other sales are negligible and can be omitted ! you really think they will not include sales other than that 35 countries if its 2.5 mil ? ! dumb ! 42 mil (to retailers, customers ? i dout it) is as believablely reported as they can get from available public announcement.

it means sony is bullshiting about their stupid data about ps3. sony said itself the competition is still less than 3 mil above them, lets take 2.5 mil. it means sony sold 39.5 mil at best not 41.5 mil TO RETAILERS !

moparful993128d ago

Sony doesn't track shipped to retailers, sony tracks sold through to customers so the 41 million that sony has reported is units sold period. End of discussion...

Baka-akaB3129d ago

of course not , one side will pretend that those 400k are the deciding factor between failure and success (obviously leaning toward failure ) , while the other side will believe overcoming those 400 k will doom the other one .

Meanwhile nintendo where they are at , doesnt care if both companies and its fans , believe they are enjoying success or not
