The interest in Wii is waning

98 percent of Wii owners never buy anything other than the console.

I, like alot of people bought it for the novelty first! played some Wii Sports. then slowly realised that due to its pathetic Graphics capability, fun little party games is all its good for I was never going to enjoy using the Controller to play Call of Duty seriously, even tho using the Wii remote felt great for FPS. Add to this the fact that the internet etc and Streaming bbc iplayer just doesnt work and the menus suck! mine is gathering dust and hasnt been touched for a long long time. ffs Nintendo, if your Wii had the GPU and decent HD support of an Xbox you would have stormed it!.

Well the Gamecube sold roughly 22 million and the wii is aproaching 75 million, I'd say they hit all their target and then some! heck the NES topped out at 60 Million

Coming from the largest *online* shop in Denmark may affect the percentage somewhat, as I can imagine someone buying the console online, and then additional games in retail.

But coolshop.dk also has a large part of the online market for games, and if they have seen a 40% overall decline in sales since last year, that is significant.

Er, no. Most recent worldwide figures put the PS3 lifetime tie ratio at an average of 8.1 games per owner. Wii at 7.7.

Personally, I think that the high attach rates are due to bundled software that are counted as an individual sw sale by tracking services, but not by this online store.
That would certainly explain a bit of the 98% figure.

I know that the translation by Google is problematic at best, but it is actually the owner of the store who concludes that the numbers are matching up - And I guess that he actually know the numbers from his store better than you do...

The really interesting thing is if this trend is a local phenomenon or if it is a general worldwide trend.

Tracking services (at least NPD, Chart-track, and Media-create, which account for the vast majority of the tracking in the link above) do not count hardware bundles as software for precisely the reason you think they should be discounted.

I never said otherwise. I am saying that when the store owner says 'I read a specific study that says the US tie ratio is 1 game!' that he is making that study up in order to make his store's numbers look like the norm, when in fact the worldwide tie ratio (and in fact, every single published US tie ratio over the past four years) indicates that they are very, very much an outlier, as I posted above.
