Crush! Frag! Destroy! - PAX 2010: Wakfu – Hands-On Preview

CFD!'s Aubrey Klanecky checks in with a surprise he found at PAX Prime 2010:

"Allow me to start this off by saying that not a one of us at Crush! Frag! Destroy! had heard of Wakfu when we saw it on the floor at PAX. It was something grid based and, well, the art style was cute so I took it on as the others took on more… “noteworthy” games.

"Boy, did I luck out. Not only is Wakfu a great game, it’s also filled me with that excitement that I haven’t felt for a game in a long, long time."

I couldn't get in to Dofus, but this looks interesting...

I never tried Dofus either, but Aubrey came away from this one so enthusiastic that I might give it a look-see. I'm curious to see what's up with that Islands of Wakfu XBLA game too. Didn't get a chance to look at that at PAX :/

I was level 194 on Dofus a couple years ago... great game. I quit though cause I found myself playing too much. ^^

Sold my account, bought a PS3 xD

Ugh, most MMO's are grind-fests these days :(

ShadowPraxis2913d ago

"Most"? Isn't that the whole point of MMOs? The whole carrot/stick mentality?

I suspect this game will be totally overlooked. Damn shame.

ShadowPraxis2914d ago

It seems like it already was. CFD! was one of the few sites to do a preview at PAX, apparently. Strange considering just how many people were always lined up to play it.

I'm holding out for the Pokemon MMO.

With Nintendo's stance on online? I have a feeling you're going to be waiting quite a while, sir ;P

ShadowPraxis2913d ago

As awesome as it will be, Nintendo likely won't ever do this. If they were going to, they would have done so by now -- even with their historically "slow to change" stance regarding online.
