Resistance 3 returns to story based co-op

Resistance 3 will feature full co-op play throughout the campaign with two separate characters to play. You'll play as Capelli or John Harper through a world that's thrust into an ice age following the Chimeran invasions. Though not confirmed, we know both online and local co-op play to be an option. We also wouldn't be surprised to see some extra form of co-op present as well, possibly similar to what Insomniac did for Resistance 2.

Thank god. Whoever thought of 8 player coop should be demoted to de-bugging. Who in the heck puts these guys in charge?

Whats wrong with having both? A campaign co-op and a 8 player bonus co-op like in R2.

Online co-op... nice. :)

While I'm very glad about story coop returning, I'll be sorely missing 8-players coop. It is very fun. It was the very reason I bought R2.

Thats both win and fail to me.

I really liked R2 co-op. Possibly one of the most unique co-op experiences this gen.

The 8 player co-op in Resistance was great to me, but over time it got repetitive, because everyone knew exactly what was going to happen, and being limited to 2 weapons got old especially as the medic (the medic gun was awesome, but overpowered and that noise it makes is annoying after 100 games).

They need to do something more like Uncharted 2 did with co-op for their 8 player co-op, even if that means dropping it to 4 player co-op.

You watch your mouth, the 8 player co-op was the best part about Resistance 2.

I completely agree dude. I had a blast with the online co-op as a medic.

"...the 8 player co-op was the best part about Resistance 2."

Word-for-word what I was about to say in my reply.

"Resistance 3 will feature full co-op play throughout the campaign with two separate characters to play."

Awesome. I LOVE story co-op in shooter games. I had Resistance 1 and I enjoyed the campaign, but the multiplayer got old really fast for me. I regret selling it because the single player was so awesome. When I pick up Black Ops, ill also pick up a used copy of R2 to get ready for R3.

No harm in an extra feature buddy, as long as co op is there as well, Why not please everyone?

I really enjoyed the 2 player story co-op from the first game when the second came out. Glad to hear it's coming back. But how about story co-op and the 8 hour extra co-op missions? Is that too much to ask? :)

Good, thats what it should of been in R2.

OhReginald4605d ago (Edited 4605d ago )

Glad they are going this route.

This means their campaign mode will be really epic, and have less scripted events.
I felt R2 was a mess at times. Everything was split up into teams. There was a dev team for the campaign, a dev team for the co-op, and a dev team for the multiplayer versus. It felt very sloppy and very generic. And the fact they removed features from the 1st game that gave resistance an identity. (i.e. weapon wheel)
