Britxbox: Hydrophobia Review

Jasper Kashap writes: "Hydrophobia is the first of three episodic installations planned by Manchester based Dark Energy Digital and is built upon the bespoke HydroEngine that specialises in dynamic water/fluid effects. This first installation follows the adventure of the unlikely hero Kate Wilson; an engineer who gets caught up in a terrorist attack on her city - a giant ocean vessel.

Positioned as a premium XBLA title with a 1200msp price tag, Hydrophobia just doesn’t cut the mustard. Although the HydroEngine is bursting with potential and the use of water in dynamic rather than scripted events is refreshing, the lacklustre gameplay and forgettable plot left me with a sense of relief rather than anticipation after reaching the inevitable final cliff-hanger."
