Alien Breed 2: Assault mixes the gameplay with effectively three different challenges. The first, and most common, is the simple point-to-point exercise. Players will be governed by waypoints on their radar, leading the way to the next objective, which typically involves hitting a switch or some other similar action. This can result in the second gameplay type, holding a position. Undoubtedly the highlight of co-operative gameplay, standing back-to-back to face-off against swarms of enemies as a counter ticks down is comparable in it’s intensity to the final sequences of Left 4 Dead. The third and final gameplay occurrence is that of the boss fights: large intimidating foes with considerable stopping power that borrow the familiar pattern-learning template of old.
