GFN Spotlight: Comic Con 2010 - Hudson Entertainment

The little bee of a company that is Hudson Entertainment has got some big plans a-buzzin’ for 2011. Gamerfitnation was on-hand – and hands-on – at New York Comic Con’s Hudson booth to get information on games that truly pay homage to a time where life was simple and gaming was less about trophies and more about exploration. At Gamerfitnation we strive to highlight and strengthen the connection games can have with health, and from a mental viewpoint few things are as healthy as the kind of fun a person can have from exploring new concepts and reliving fond memories.

Revisiting Adventure Island - A 2D action-filled tropical paradise

A.J. says: "When it comes to fast-paced retro platformers, very few games stand out in my memory as being as enjoyable as Adventure Island. Pull up your grass skirt, grab a stone axe, and let's eat as much fruit as our stomachs can handle!"

I agree with this or better yet I'd prefer if Konami sold the Hudson Soft games to someone that wants to bring those games out again.

Hell yeah, give bloody roar to someone else. Can't stand when companies has rights to games and don't use them.

I swear it's a damn shame that Konami was even able to lay their greasy ass palms on not only Hudson Soft, but bomberman too. People don't even realize, but bomberman had a really good following back in the day. They came out with so many damn games for this series it's not even funny. Talk about a far cry since now we can't even get "ONE" bomberman game (and NO I DO NOT COUNT THE CRAP MOBILE GAME).

Wish Nintendo would put bomberman in smash bros too.

Bomberman 64 & Bomberman Hero were really good N64 games.

I would love to see something like that make a comeback.

Hudson and Konami were my go to publishers in the day. Hudson was a huge supporter of the turbo grafx, which was my favorite console, so maybe I'm a bit biased, but they did have amazing games.

When Konami acquired them they were still pretty good.

Bomberman! That game was pure fun. If there was ever a game that could be F2P and charge for cosmetics then this would be it.

Bonk is such a classic, it's a shame that nothing has been seen or heard from this game since god knows when. I remember seeing some concept art for a remake Bonk a loooong time ago. It looked like the art style from Calvin and Hobbes. Maybe it was something similar to Bonk: Brink of Extinction.

Faxanadu...NES rush of memories exploding my brain!

I absolutely love Bonk. I liked it better than Mario...at least the earlier ones, not the later ones. Hudson had so many good IP's. Ironically, Hudson actually did publish some mario games for the PC88 and other PC variants.

Some of their more memorable ones were R-type, Bonk, Excitebike, Star Soilder, Neutopia, they actually have game publishing rights to Record of Lodoss War, Cotton, Langrisser(but believe that was sold), and probably more I can't remember.

I think the Bonk game you're thinking of is Bonk 3D(working title?). It got cancelled in the merge with Konami.

Please, no more Bomberman!

KryptoniteTail3276d ago

Bomberman was always hit-and-miss. It definitely deserves another couple chances. The Game Boy one was good, try doing 3DS/Vita. At least port the mobile one to them. So lazy and stupid.
