Tell Us How You Really Feel: Gran Turismo 5 Delay

Originally scheduled to start its engines in less than a month, Gran Turismo 5 has been pushed back from November 5 to a more ambiguous "holiday season" release.

With an undetermined deadline extension, GamePro doesn't know what Polyphony could do with their extra time, but their members have a few suggestions.

Im going to wait until we get the new release date before I have any say to this, but if its pushed to 2011, Im calling my PS3, The Delaystation 3

sure 2011 will be awesome but we aren't in 2011, so Holiday release or bust

Genesis53291d ago (Edited 3291d ago )

Well I would love to have it but it's not 100% ready. Crying about it it going to make any difference. So I guess I'll just wait. Fortunately I have a heavy backlog of games to catch up on right now.

KYU21303291d ago

ready by now. your talking a 3 week period before the game was supposed to drop. its all ready burned and labeled sitting in a boxes gathering dust till ship date. the print work alone takes a good 1-2 weeks thats discs and inserts/covers. burn process for initial shipments average about 1 week.

so yes its ready its not a polish delay. its a strategic delay to work around other issues such as marketing and competition.

rroded3291d ago

when it launches

as long as its glitch free n plays right it will b worth the wait.

I'm not sure if it's because of competition. Black Ops? I don't get why GT5 would fear Black Ops. They are advertised to two different audiences. I don't think it's a marketing strategy, it doesn't make sense to piss off the fans like that. They promised November and if they had their hearts set on marketing strategies then they should have just announced it for the holidays.

I feel Delicate... irritated... and I think I'm ugly...

SonyWarrior3291d ago

i usally dont play other games uless i fondicat with them...... bubbles me up and thumbs me up if you agree gt5 is the best and so is ps3..

Bathyj3291d ago (Edited 3291d ago )

yeah, I'm thinking it could only hurt you to launch so close to Black Ops. Now it can have december to itself.

I have 2 weeks off at Christmas, as long as its out by then I dont care.

We should keep in mind as well amongst all the hysteria that this is the first real global delay. All this talk of being constantly delayed is BS.

Boody-Bandit3291d ago

More time for other games while waiting.

MostJadedGamer3290d ago (Edited 3290d ago )

Its possible for games to go gold a week from the ship date, and still mkae the release date. Though bigger games take longer to print more copies.

Its obvious the game never went gold. Probably this was the deadline for deciding.

LordMarius3291d ago (Edited 3291d ago )

Im only saying that if it gets pushed to 2011 along side
-Socom 4
-LittleBigPlanet 2
-DC Online

All which have been delayed and has left this fall in a drought without any Sony magic.

Take SD but not me, gimme bubbles instead, lol

Bigpappy3291d ago (Edited 3291d ago )

Sony is betting big on 3D. If GT5 does as well commercially as some say it would, and the 3D is stellar, it may convince some of those fans to invest in a 3DTV. That would be a win for Sony like it was with bluray. The negative side is that they do not have any other major release for the holiday season. This conceeds the Kinect launch with nothing to distract the media, making it much easier for Kinect to dominate the gaming news.

PopEmUp3291d ago

Great :) since I have exam when it launch so Now it probably heading into Xmast time :)

Honestly I feel that this is good for gt5 in terms of sales. I mean this game is going to be huge but some how I felt that it wasn't getting the attention that was needed and pre-orders being a little lower than expected. I think gt5 just needed a little umph like a MOH Taliban kind of umph to get people talking about gt5. Even though it's negative attention just look how the internet exploded after this news, now a lot more people know that gt5 is coming out this year than before this announcement. Plus its more time for pre-orders to go up. That's the good side of it, the bad is the people who've been patiently waiting suffer for a few more weeks.

Imperator3291d ago

I'm kinda happy. For one, it means that it can only better. And second, I will most definitely be buying it now since there's absolutely nothing in December! A few extra weeks won't kill us after waiting for 5 years.

morkendo233290d ago

more game time for me til then

tinybigman3290d ago

still getting it day one. im a huge fan of the series so i don't have a problem waiting a couple of weeks. this will actually give me a little time to play something else and finish it so i can devote plenty of my time to this beauty.

Mamajuana3291d ago (Edited 3291d ago )

I posted a comment yesterday mentioning that it was unsettling that the game has not gone gold yet. The delay is disappointing, I just hope it's delayed for a good reason and it's not delayed that long; if it gets pushed back to next year then I will be from disappointed to I'm also hoping that the game exceeds our expectations.

Aclay3291d ago (Edited 3291d ago )

I was pretty disappointed with the delay, but since it's just a small one and GT5 should be released by Christmas, it doesn't bother me a whole lot, but I STILL would've preferred to have it early November...what I hate the most is that after 5+ years and just about 2 and a half weeks away from being released, a delay.

I've seen a few people mention that maybe the minor tweaks should have been dealt with through a patch instead of delaying the game, but considering how long the game has been in development already, a perfectionist like Kaz probably want's to deliver as perfect as an experience as possible out of the box instead of releasing a few small patches to make little fixes a week or so after release.

I'm not worried about the game slipping into 2011 though because Sony knows the importance of GT5 for this holiday season, especially since there isn't ANY other major PS3 exclusives being released this Holiday ...honestly I think Sony would force Kazunori to release it by Christmas 2010 regardless if he needed until early 2011 because GT5 is just too important of a game for the PS3 as a whole to miss this Holiday.

metsgaming3291d ago

It better not get pushed to 2011

Ult iMate3291d ago

In that case they'll say they push it to PS4. -__- .
