GamerZines writes: Whilst its arrival may have been leaked early, SCEE and LOVEFiLM have today confirmed that the service is due to hit the PlayStation 3 in the near future, also providing details in regards to subscription packages.
I have a free trial. May check this out, checked their listings and there's alot of things I'd watch. Decent selection, not horrendously priced.
Sounds good, not as good as Netflix though =[ I wish we had Netflix in the UK. This will be good enough untill then though :)
the damn movies :)
this has a good selection of movies in europe, a welcome addition
I don't get Sony. They could push their own movie service, instead they're allowing other companies to benefit from the platform.
Two different services. One is streaming, one is rental/sales.
One is streaming/rentals, one is rental/sales. love film has rentals as well
i think he meant that love film was rentals whereas sony was streaming...either way it is still wrong as Lovefilm provides both
Yes, but via PS3, you can stream Lovefilm and buy/rent from the PS Store.
Lovefilm is a big brand with millions of subscribers. As far as Sony Is concerned, If 5% of Lovefilm users bought a PS3 because it gave them better access to their content and a Blu-Ray player, then thats a couple of hundred thousand console sales. Lovefilm obviously gets more customers as PS3 owners also want to make the most of their hardware. Win/Win and I for one welcome the choice. £9.99 for 4 rentals per month including games, 2 discs at a time & online streaming does sound very tempting.
I'm not really familiar with the movie services on PS3 since I only use it to play video games. What's the difference between LOVEFiLM, Netflix, and Sony's Playstation Store (for movies/shows)?
Nice. Europe has like ten movie services on the PS3. I'm ok with Netflix in America though. Lol.
That's across different countries though, there isn't a single country in Europe that has anything like that number of video services available on the PS3 and many of those are like catch up TV apps like the BBC iPlayer.
i have none. only vidzone.
so for 5.99 how many films can i stream a month?
Unlimited but the choice is obviously limited like netflix.
The website states the following: The 5.99 per month package allows 3 disc rentals per month (1 disc at home at a time) plus 2 hrs of online viewing. 2HRS!!! Screw that! Looks like the cheapest useful service is 9.99 per month... That allows 1 disc at home at a time (but no limit to monthly rentals), and what appears to be unlimited online streaming. EDIT: http://www.lovefilm.com/dvd... click the Packages tab
£9.99 a month for unlimited streaming doesn't seem too bad at all imo. The only thing left is available content and the quality of the stream.
Yeah, it doesn't sound too bad. Think Lovefilm have around 4000 titles available for streaming at the moment... but never seen anything that states they are HD, so not sure of the quality.
thanks to above i was being to lazy to check the site lol
Ireland gets screwed again. We don't have a video store or iplayers.
The usual story.
Same here for Sweden... Only VidZone.
We are getting the MUBI service next month tho which should be good. Think its €15 a month for unlimited access. Looking forward to that, its not fair that Ireland gets half the stuff UK gets when its only a half hour away!!
