A lot of gamers like things that a certain self-elevating elitist class of gamer would rather deny the existence of. Here’s one games journalist who won’t go ’round pretending he’s above the riff-raff.
''I was also accused of perpetuating the stereotype that gamers are all horny teenage boys.'' This is true on N4G.
Wow, i actually stopped posting on n4g, because its all a bunch of kids and ps3 fanboys. But I had to post for this article... congratulations, because this is such a good read and its so true.
I don't know what to say. I think that the majority of your article is a load of crock. These ''truths'' that you keep spewing about do not represent everybody, despite the fact that you seem to think that they do. You believe that such feeble exploitation of the gamer fan base makes you a 'good journalist', or are a part of being one even though there are many 'good journalist' that do really well without it. Stop trying to justify your whoring, or at least, do a better job at it. Personally, I think that you suck. I think that you're a weak journalist. Why do I? You've proven that you NEED to rely on such noob tactics to garner interest in your own articles. That's how boring they are, and that's how boring you are. You rely on 'sex', 'violence' and 'swearing' to spruce your shit up because fact of the matter is your own material doesn't even cut it. That one of those articles is your biggest success as a journalist is PATHETIC. @SuperMassiveGay My current amount of bubbles and this comment are completely irrelevant. Now I ask, is that all that you have? I can't say that I didn't see this coming, and at the same time, it seems that I've just learned to appreciate your seem-slapstick articles. Mainly because I can't fault you for making such a decision when it so happens that you suck this much.
The guy abusing me via PM because he's too unpopular to post any more comments is calling me PATHETIC. Maybe it's supposed to be tongue-in-cheek.
Way to miss the point completely, fella. I can see from your bubbles that this isn't the first time.
I suppose it's a bit like that old 10,000 Maniacs song "candy everybody wants". the song is about sex/violence on tv, and it's great - go listen to it. nice opinion piece!
i don't give a damn about stereotypes. gaming is still seen as a male-oriented hobby and it will continue to be that way. there's girl gamers out there, but i sure as hell don't see them. most people i meet on online games - males most people i see in video game stores buying games - males most people i see that talk about video games - males most people on gaming forums - males most people that write reviews about video games - males just keep playing ya games and don't care just like me.
N4G is a community of gamers posting and discussing the latest game news. It’s part of NewsBoiler, a network of social news sites covering today’s pop culture.
