Guns, Guns, Guns! The video-game industry seems to be one of weapon-worship. People want to shoot stuff, so developers make games that let them do so. Two of the most anticipated games of the year, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Medal of Honor will be released within the next 2 months. Both games already have a huge amount of attention surrounding them. Are there any issues here? Well, yes and no. During the N64/Playstation era, 3D platformers ruled the roost. History seems to be repeating itself, with a different genre playing the king of the generation.
The Black Ops Gulf War leaks continue with a list of weapon descriptions giving more info on what you can expect from new and returning weapons.
Recently, players of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone were met with a new bundle featuring the B.E.A.S.T. Glove, inspired by King Kong's armament in the Godzilla x Kong movie. However, the $80 price tag attached to this themed accessory left many Call of Duty fans feeling underwhelmed.
Morons that allow themselves to be milked continuously by this company is the definition of irony.
Spend more $$ and you'll end up In easier lobbies so you win both ways when ya spend that cash
Controversy in the COD community feels like it happens within an alternate timeline. Activision will take the piss with something, there will be a momentary fuss about it, and then they will forget about it and carry on anyway. Repeat this cycle literally every year for the rest of time.
I'm so tired of hearing about what they're doing with this game, its never going to change and it's never going to value the consumer over money, furthermore the people who engage so heavily in the microtransactions I guess allegedly are having a blast and can't wait to do it some more this year when the new version of the game drops.
Today Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson provided a look into his ideas for the use of generative AI in the company's development processes.
EA is still a shady shitty company even with or without the help of Skynet. All they will use AI for is new ways to milk loot boxes and come up with the same sports title with a different year on the label. They are one company I truly do hate with a passion. They single handedly ruined some great franchise with their death touch. ME, Dead Space, Alice Returns, Dante's Inferno.
EA layoffs followed by 'Generative AI to Drive Monetization'
I knew it. Wonder what AI salary looks like? Nothing.
And take away creativity, and people's jobs as we've been seeing. Got it.
No thanks. I want my games created by people, not AI.
EA doesn't want to lose their title of worst gaming company ever, always trying their best to remain the champs!
What's sad is that they have so much potential to be a decent publisher.
SSX Tricky / SSX 3
Def Jam Vendetta / Fight for New York
NBA Street
NFL Steet
Mirror's Edge
Bad Company
Burnout 3 / 4 / 5
Remember when EA used to be awesome? It's all over with now. Unpolished, if not out-right broken games these days. Endless monetization and gambling in their sports games, and let's not forget wasting hours of your life trying to unlock characters or equipment using "surprise boxes!"
Even after writing this, I'm thinking of Reach and Bad Company 2. That must mean something...
I would say that First Person Shooters are definitely the biggest genre of games for this generation.
Shooters are what MOST people want. If you want platforming, get a Wii. It is what it is. Why is it so cool to hate what is popular? Do we think it makes us sophisticated?
There are just too many being made now and most are rehashes of the same old thing. Having bought most of the FPSs of the last few years I'm skipping MOH and COD black ops. I probably won't buy another until Killzone 3. I'll just stick with MAG and KZ2 for my FPS fix until then.
Modern Warfare 2 addiction is kinda wearing off.. Good news :P
CoD Black Ops coming out in less than a month's time.. Bad News.. but also good news lol, I can't decide, really.
