Guerrilla Games: Not Many People Completed Killzone 2

Of the almost 3 million people who bought Killzone 2, how many would you’ve guessed completed the single player campaign? If you said half, you’re still wrong.

Apparently, like many other games, not many Killzone 2 owners saw the game to its completion.

no matter if they are super awesome or sucks ( one game i never completed is quantom theory, man that game sucked too much). But i finished killzone 2 because i liked the story and the graphics where super awesome.

Akagi5353d ago

I complete all my games too. I've beaten so truly awful games, but I've also beats many great games.

KZ2 had a great campaign, although on the short side, it was definitely action-packed.

Chubear5353d ago (Edited 5353d ago )

Real hardcore gamers are a dying breed it seems. Heck nowadays if a game doesn't have auto aim & the appropriate amount of XP on kniving it's considered crap and broken :(

KZ's SP story and universe just gets me hooked more than usual for FPSs (outside something like Half Life) Once I start I can't seem to stop 'till I beat it on Elite.

Just can't get enough 'till I know I've beaten it through and through.

Vojkan5353d ago

i have KZ2, never played it. I have finished R1, R2, WAW, MW2, but KZ2, i can't motivate my self to play it, those controls ....
If you wonder why i have it, its because my brother bought it, i played some of beta back in the the day. When it comes to finishing SP, i tend to do it 90% of the time, whats the point otherwise? I think Overlord 2 is only game on PS3 that i haven't finished.

-Alpha5353d ago (Edited 5353d ago )

I finished Killzone 2 all the way on the hard difficulty until I chickened out of beating Radec in which I toned down the difficulty. It was a good SP experience, but like all FPSes this gen I just mindlessly mashed through a pretty thin story and characters.

I still need to kick his ass on the harder level.

Honestly, I don't finish a lot of my games. It's not that I'm not "hardcore", it's that either there are too damn many or I lose interest quickly. It's something odd this generation that I never had the problem with last gen.

Last gen I played a game and would be hooked till the end. This gen I can't seem to keep up. Games like GTAIV, Dragon Age, etc.

I can finish Killzone because it's a decent length game. It's not too long that it stretches out and loses my interest. As for controls, I didn't mind them in SP, it felt right, it's MP that I had control issues with.

BiggCMan5353d ago

i complete every single game i buy. no matter what it is, no matter what console it is for. there isnt a single game in my library that i havnt beaten. and that spans about 2 decades. the only games i dont beat are the ones i rent, and do not like. if i like a game that ive rented, i buy it and beat it, thoroughly.

Dragun6195353d ago

I Completed Killzone 2 SP Campaign.

And I'm looking forward to Killzone 3's SP Campaign too. Expecting Guerrilla Games will mix it up now that they added jet packs and new environments to play with And maybe add some new additions, like Bosses or more cinematic shots like Uncharted 2 & Infamous 2?

Game-ur5353d ago

KZ2 had one of the best action packed campaigns in an FPS.

Storming Visari palace is one of my all time favorite levels, to bad a lot missed out on it.

StanLee5353d ago

Killzone 2's campaign was boring. I got one trophy, for finishing the first mission. Couldn't play anymore.

The Maxx5353d ago

I always play and complete the single player first before I jump online.

KZ2 didn't take that long to get through the campaign, and as nice as it looked, it was utterly trash. Couldn't stand it. Completely forgettable. I still to this day can never remember the main character's name and I still don't think there was a story other than the war was taken to the Helgast's planet.

Online was much more fun.

AntoineDcoolette5353d ago

I completed KZ2 100% in trophies including the DLC maps!

I don't really blame anyone for not going through or finishing the campaign since it isn't exactly something amazing like Half Life series or Perfect Dark (the first one) but it was absolutely adrenaline filled and did a good job of portraying the sensation of being smack dab in the middle of a war zone. One of my favorite parts of the game was storming across the bridge because of the huge AI battle.

Armyntt5353d ago

Just didnt feel it. Controls while different were just fine wouldnt say weighted but different. Graphics were just ok. Cutscenes though were very detailed. Just wasnt the game for me.

darthv725353d ago

i am real close though. My excuse is other games came out during my play through that i wanted to play as well. Hell I even have SOTC to finish on the PS2. I have only 3 colossi though to complete.

fishd5352d ago

And the source is that guy's a$$,amiright?!

tacosRcool5352d ago

It wasn't short for a FPS games like the Halo series and Quake 4

Hideo_Kojima5352d ago

Games I haven't finished...

UT3 I only player the first 3 levels and realized the story was non existent so I jumped into custom game mode instead.

GTA4 even though its one of my most played games I never bothered with the story the lack of checkpoints the bad cutscenes and stopped going to missions points

Motor Storm no real reason just got bored of being forced to use vehicles I didn't want to use so I replayed the first few maps again and again

Red Faction Guerilla same reasons as GTA

But I did finish KZ2 and enjoyed it the ending was kind of a wdf moment but I was also happy cause it pretty much confirmed that there would have to be a KZ3

BattleAxe5352d ago

I beat Killzone 2 on Hard(just before Elite) and I didn't get any extra trophy for trudging through the campaign, just the same trophy that you would get if you beat it on Easy. That really pissed me off.

PSFan1005352d ago

I got platinum, therefore did pretty much everything, except the add-ons. I'll probably try to get plat on KZ3 too, so long as there isn't "get top 1%" again.

evrfighter5352d ago

Lol real hardcore gamers know what mediocrity is when they see it. They aren't brand loyal and would know if a game is as generic as they come. Hence why this article was written.

Quagmire5353d ago

You bought Quantum Theory?

but otherwise yea, I almost always finish all games. I mostly play games for story rather than MP, so an immersive intriguing story makes finishing a game that much more fun.

The Wood5353d ago (Edited 5353d ago )

i just couldn't. Thinking about makes me tired

@ King below....i was one of those....even though i knew it was short i still couldn't be asked

Shuklar5352d ago

:(

Sadly it only gets good near the end (chap 11-13)

Christopher5353d ago

I just bought and started it, but I admit that MAG 2.0 and now Castlevania will definitely delay my completion of the game. Even worse is that I know Fallout: New Vegas will delay it even further. I promise I'll finish prior to ever buying KZ3, though :p

falloutx5353d ago

But I noticed a lot of my friends who are top 100, They play and play for hours but they don't have the completed mission trophies.

rukia_chan5353d ago (Edited 5353d ago )

I seriously want Hakha to return in KZ3 (The man who voiced Hakha also voiced General Radec). I mean, come on! People loved Hakha. I hated Rico since KZ1.

And I hope that Scolar Visari comes back in a sort of pre-death recording sort of way. How else are they going to have another good intro without Visari's awesome speech?

CoxMulder5353d ago (Edited 5353d ago )

Hakha FTW!

My guess would be that Visari recorded enough propaganda to last the Helghast a few decades..

mastiffchild5352d ago

Yeh, would be nice to see him back and Rico dead but there's no justice in the KZ universe, you know that, or the Helghast wouldn't be the "bad" guys, would they?

dangert125353d ago

Well im happy to say i am part of the select few that completed it =)

tinybigman5353d ago (Edited 5353d ago )

I loved every minute of it, especially the part with Radek that SoB had me cussing up a storm hahahaha. The only games I could not bring myself to finish were LP2, and Bayonetta everything else done and dusted.

masterg5353d ago

I did not complete KZ2.
I sold my PS3 (to buy a PS3 slim) and forgot to copy my save games.

Dark_Overlord5353d ago

KZ2 are locked and as such uncopyable, so it wouldn't have been possible anyway :)

LiquifiedArt5352d ago

Connecting 2 ps3's will copy all copyright protected content. I've done it. I bought a new ps3, before i sent my old one to sony (was becoming unstable) and got all my saves, including kz2 saves and demon souls saves.

TheLastGuardian5352d ago

I finished my first playthrough of Killzone 2 on Veteran but I couldn't get past the train on my Elite playthrough.

bustamove5352d ago

I'm guilty of not finishing it. Radec pissed me off so much. (~ '')~

But I *will* finish it b/f Killzone 3.

jerethdagryphon5352d ago

radecs easy if you can get to him my problem on elite was his goons

thats and defences of visali square are the only 2 missiosn i havent done on elite

JBaby3435352d ago (Edited 5352d ago )

Radec is one of the easiest even on Elite. Just stand in a corner in the bottom of the large hall (not in the doorways) and shoot him when he runs at you. He will disappear twice and run at you again the second re-appear. Keep shooting him and he will stop right before he gets to you and disappear. Continue until he's dead.

His goons, as jerethdagryphon pointed out, are much more difficult. Hope this helps.

On Topic: I got Platinum on Killzone 2 and still play now and then because it's just that good. I happen to love the controls and story. I still can't understand why people whine so much about the controls. Can't wait for KZ3.

moparful995352d ago

I beasted kz2 on single player. Not only have I completed the game, i've done so on every difficulty. However I am only sitting at 60% on the trophy hunt.. Kz2 has some tuffies.. But yea beating radec on elite? My lord that was tense, challenging, and uber rewarding when I finally bested him.. Salivating for kz3!

SaberEdge5352d ago

I completed Killzone 2 twice. I also put a lot of time in online.

JBaby3435352d ago

I loved the online but you have to make sure the rocket & grenade launchers are not included. I hated when people would spam those into rooms. Otherwise the game is great fun both online and off.

LukaX235352d ago

A bootlegged article by a bootlegged version of a bootlegged site! My day just got better.

avengers19785352d ago

I played through twice.
Multiplayer is very fun in KZ2 it's not perfect but it is soild, and There are still plenty of people playing.
CAN'T WAIT FOR KZ3

ImmortalLegend5352d ago

The controls were an absolute nightmare! Too slow and clunky. If KZ2 had something like BF:BC 2 controls it would be great.

Rumbanana5352d ago (Edited 5352d ago )

I never completed Killzone 2. I just couldn't beat the last mission. It was so damn hard! I'll get called a noob or something, but even playing on amateur I couldn't beat it. I'm surprised to hear that so many developers are tracking stats like completion and whatnot.

After hours of frustration, I gave up and jumped into multiplayer.

elpresador5352d ago

....wile I finished KZ2, considering it seems that the majority only care about multi and shrug at SP, developers are now pouring all time and energy and effort into MP and doing the SP as an after thought when last gen it was the other way around.

THis amazes me too in that so many people will plunk down $60 for a game and only play half of it and in some cases not even check out the SP. Unless you get an MMP pr a game like MAG which is built for only MP, I still find it funny that people are ok paying full price for only playing half a game.

We need to go old school soon and concentrate on SP more than Multi. I love MP dont get me wrong but what gets me to buy a game is story and characters. Otherwise, pretty much everything, like FPS games, are all the same but with a diff mod. I mean really, ESPECIALLY with FPS games, why keep buying them when, for the most part, the MP all boil down to the same damn thing?

I would love for another Half Life type FPS, hell, even doing something like Bio Shock again, I mean give us a great story around 12 hour in length and make the MP as an added bonus.

Maybe I am just too old school.

Rumbanana5352d ago

I agree with you %100. The main draw of multiplayer has always been competition. I remember going to the arcade at the Hudson Mall and was proud to say that I was #1 on the High Scores Leaderboards of at leat three of the games. I just don't understand why games bomb if they don't have some type of decent multiplayer. Does anyone honestly think that Red Dead Redemption would have sold as much or got the review scores it did without the multiplayer aspect? It's just sad!

pixelsword5352d ago (Edited 5352d ago )

@ elpresador:

Not only that, but the irony is that those same people who won't finish the SP will whine if a game is multiplayer only; like they did for MAG, SOCOM: Confrontation, Warhawk...

But like you, it's the story from the SP that will drive me to want to pay the MP. I went through Killzone 1 and Liberation before I went to 2, I can name everyone on Visari's mural on the last stage. For me, It's the people behind the guns is what will make me want to play, and oftentimes stick to a certain side.

TheDeadMetalhead5352d ago

I beat the game on Normal, then got to about the fourth level on Elite. The game is just too ridiculously hard on Elite (although that's not really a bad thing, and it IS fair).

PopEmUp5352d ago

at least you admitted you're a noob at shooter :)

pixelsword5352d ago

Wow, I whipped it on Elite, like several times, I have over 300 hours on the single player total from what I counted (It reset after my PS3 ylod and got another one, but I still remember the time from the original one).

King-Leonidas5353d ago

just like many people didnt complete MW2.

pixelsword5352d ago

I think they did, but it was so short they probably thought they didn't. lolz

frankymv5353d ago

I finished it.

Also got platinum.

TooTall195353d ago

I beat it on Veteran, then Elite, and then Recruit without dying. Now so few people play online that I don't have the time to get in the top 1%. I should have did it the first week it came out.

HeroXIV5353d ago (Edited 5353d ago )

I can't complete it when it gets to using the sixaxis to turn the valves his hands get NEARLY all the way to the right but no matter how further I turn the controller it never works. Must've tried a hundred times and still can't get passed.

Play Online a lot though, pretty sweet. Radec Academy ftw.

Bereaver5353d ago

You know you have to let go of the wheel, and regrab back in the starting position to rotate it more? You have to turn, let go, and turn again. Just like in real life. lol

George Sears5353d ago

He's probably Stretch Armstrong.

Yardie5353d ago

I didn't complete kz2 because i got addicted to the online.
