DC Universe Online Delayed, Beta Launch Imminent

Turn off the bat-signal, stop doodling your costume ideas, and hang up your cape -- DC Universe Online will not be coming this November.

Sony Online Entertainment broke the news today that its DC Comics MMO (the one that allows you to create a hero or villain and live in the comic book universe) is getting pushed backed from November to early 2011.

You do realize 2011 now has LBP2, inFamous 2, KZ3, Sorcery, Socom 4, for PS3 alone, and Dead Space 2 as well at the beginning of the year (beta is nice). Hopefully I get the beta for DCUO soon and get to try it out while I wait for its release, will be the one bright side of it.

Edit: You also have the Duke coming out beginning of next year as well...

Yeah rdg, I noticed that 2011 is going to be over load. The only multiplat game I'll have time to enjoy is Portal2 but I'll be up to my eyeballs in exclusives next year.

This is the PS2 all over again *sigh*

How can you forget The Last Guardian?

rdgneoz35375d ago

@zootang I meant just beginning of the year alone. Last Guardian and a bunch of other good games are coming out later in the year.

DC Universe delayed, well it looks like the beginning of the end for PC gaming.

Maybe a miracle will happen and they'll figure a way to get console and PC players on the same servers... doubtful, but one can hope. Well, at least there's beta for me in November. Wonder if that beta is for both PC and PS3 or just PC, though?

Persistantthug5375d ago

I have no idea how this game and the PVP works for this game, But I have the feeling it will be a highly requested feature, and once the balancing and populations get all situated, New PC-PS3 servers will get created so that they will be able to play with and/or against each other.

I can picture it now,
PS3 = Good guys vs PC= Bad guys.

EPIC battles will probably be had. lol

Wildarmsjecht5376d ago

It was inevitable. There was little news for quite some time now and for an ambitious MMO that had the interest of many comic book and DC fans, it made no sense to go silent a few months before the release. I think alot of people expected this, especially with no Beta being announced. But I'm glad to see that it's not scrapped, a beta is incoming, and hopefully it's in good enough shape to play test and with enough feedback, balance and tweak any issue.

2011 however....it's looking very jam-packed.

I wish they would make a movie out of the CG cutscenes, they looks so amazing :)

As for the game, it's good it was delayed, havent heard much about it. I'm interested in the game, i just don't know if ill ever have the time to play it. Hopefully i can get in the beta and beable to play it. Is the beta coming for the PS3?

Possibly good move , would get slaughtered at fall , especially with a fee of any kind .

Now it better comes out before guild wars 2 , or the non beta version (lol) of ff14 in march

Myze5375d ago (Edited 5375d ago )

Well, if it's coming early next year, I would say it better come out before The Old Republic (or at least not around the same time), because that will be by far the biggest MMO release next year. Not necessarily saying the best (it does look really good though), as I'm really looking forward to GW2 as well, but thankfully there should be enough time between releases to try them both out.

MMOs In 2021 Retrospective: Console Edition

WTMG's Thomas Medina: "As far as I’m concerned, console MMOs have always been in a weird place. PC is where the main game is most popular. MMOs were born there, work best there, and have the vast majority of titles. Mobile is then next in line, with touchscreens and portability that adds something new while functioning well. Console gaming, on the other hand, is not portable (for the most part). Plus, it uses a controller, which is not the best instrument when your control scheme requires a thousand buttons and a cursor. That being said, there is an audience, and where there’s money to be made, publishers find a way. So here we are with some of the biggest console MMO games and how I feel they handled 2021. "

Best Superhero Video Games Available Right Now

From Xfire: "A lot of video games are designed to make players feel like a superhero. However, very few actually feature superheroes or have players take on the role of a superhero. What makes this even worse is that there are even fewer superhero video games that can be considered good."
