Hopefully, you're aware by now that the 16-bit cult classic Splatterhouse has a full blown 3D remake due to come out next month. You may even know that the game has 2D side scrolling levels in it that pay homage to the original games. What you may not know is that the original three games will be included as unlockable content even though Namco originally wanted them to be paid DLC. In a part of our upcoming interview with producer Dan Tovar, he explains how he had to fight for years to keep the original games in for free, and why sometimes it means more to do the right thing by your fans than it does to make an extra buck.
The PS3 era was a happy time, so let's look back on some of its games that flew well under the radar.
Sad that the team behind Dante inferno did not get their chance to finish the story. They had two other games planned
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
Remember Me

3D Dot Game Heroes
The Darkness
"I have always liked the idea of having a Doom-like "Splatterhouse" game. Well, now I (we) get the chance to experience a game like that, because "Splatterhouse 3D" is a really cool "Doom" mod that offers that very .experience" - Robin Ek, TGG.
Bloody Disgusting looks back at the gory hit Splatterhouse as it celebrates its 30th Birthday.
Good idea. I remember it coming out the game would be included in the disk. It'd be a dick move to take it out. We all know what SCAMCO did with Katamari Damacy on the 360.
I'm still hoping the Splatterhouse revival is going to be decent. Looked a bit on the rough side when it was first shown.
Good for NAMCO for doing this!! I really hope it pays off. They could have easily charged people for the original games as DLC but they kept them in for the fans. Bra-fucking-vo. Bobby Kotick could learn a thing or two from them.
Can't wait to give the 3D version a whirl. Love over the top gore games.
Nice! That is how it should be. Nothing feels better than unlockable rewards. Especially big ones like this. n_n!
