The U.S. Army announced today that it will feature a number of interactive America's Army game experiences at this week's Penny Arcade Expo (August 24-26 at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle). Located in booth #358, the U.S. Army will showcase the first hands-on demo of the upcoming America's Army: True Soldiers game which will be available exclusively on the Xbox 360. The Army's booth will also feature a version of its Virtual Army Experience and an America's Army PC LAN. SGT Tommy Rieman, a member of the America's Army Real Heroes Program and America's Army: True Soldiers development consultant, will talk to PAX attendees about the heroic actions for which he was awarded the Silver Star and his role in ensuring the authenticity of America's Army branded products. Select booth visitors may receive an autographed action figure featuring America's Army Real Heroes.
Propaganda. It's that thing that's all around us and is probably bad for you, but no one gives a shit, except for one man because he's all out of gum: [audience laughs]. Okay, that probably wasn't a John Oliver-worthy opening, but propaganda in video games is real and has influenced many a game since the inception of the industry itself.
Ah, America. I hear it’s the land of the free and the home of the Whopper. Sure, it’s in somewhat deep shit over PRISM and several other scandals, but you can’t help but respect it for at least trying to make those scandals possible.
With that out of the way, it’s Independence Day here in the United States. You’re more likely to find a barbecue than productivity this time of year, so in the spirit of things, our reviews editor Andrew Esposito and I have decided to compile our top 3 patriotic games. These are games that will make Lady Liberty herself blush with shame for her relative lack of patriotism.
Freedom Fighters says hello! Such a short sighted list. It should be at least number 3 on that list. Metal Gear feels a lot more Japanese than American.
Notable mention for the most American games ever:
- Ford vs Chevy
- Assassin's Creed 3
- Counter Strike
- Scarface: The World is Yours
- Cabela's franchise
- Saints Row the Third
- Mortal Kombat
- Call of Duty franchise
P.S. Murica!!!
Most gamers are quick to ridicule unfair game design situations, but why have we allowed this boom to continue anyway?
aa is nice since its free but if i have to pay-then no way1
I agree on the free thing, but its such a great game i will pay for it anyways!
The military obviously favors the Xbox 360 for many reasons. It's not surprising to see the 360 get exclusive content for AA.
