GamerZines writes:

In what is probably one of the more bizarre, yet humorous, news stories that we've posted this week, Peter Molyneux has released a video of his son Lucas demanding that Valve release Half Life 3.

Lmao the second I seen this on twitter I knew it would be on here, kid has a point though we have been waiting forever valve

Red_Orange_Juice4962d ago

is he even allowed to play HL? What a bad example

Hoolock4962d ago

As gamers we happily play games that depict terrorist organization which brutally enslave and kill hundreds of people a year and take no moral objection but as soon as a child crosses an age boundary for a game we take issue. There is something wrong here

Charmers4962d ago

The age ratings exist to protect Children from "entertainment" that they might not be ready for or that might cause them mental harm. If Peter had got his son to ask for a sequel to "Debbie Does Dallas" people would be disgusted that he let his son watch those kind of movies. Yet for some odd reason it is acceptable to people that a young child like this can demand a Mature rated game.

The same principle applies here, Half Life is a MATURE rated game and allowing your 7 - 10 year old son play it is pretty irresponsible parenting. It also makes a complete mockery of the ratings system if people such as Molyneux are ignoring it.

CombatEvolving4962d ago

Ratings=Guidelines
The parent has the final say.

ZombieAutopsy4962d ago (Edited 4962d ago )

Ratings are there as a guideline, your not a bad parent for letting your child play or watch movies out of there age rating IF your child is mature enough to know its only a game/movie...I mean when you where younger where you not able to handle 18+ rated games/movies?

Besides you really think half the people playing Halo Reach or Call of duty are 18+, if you do you are dead wrong.

antz11044962d ago

@ Red_Orange and Charmers

Obviously you don't play online that much. IDK how many times I've played L4D against an 8yr old.

Cerberus21254962d ago

It looks to me like I'm the only one who can see that this message really comes from Peter not his Son.

CoLD FiRE4962d ago

I played Mortal Kombat when I was 6 and that game was far more violent than Half Life. It didn't make me get into fights every day and rip out people's hearts.

Suck it ESRB!

gcolley4962d ago

@Charmers i see all the children on this site against age ratings, that is all i see. now start clicking that disagree button kids

Lykon4961d ago

I don't remember there being anything particularly bad for kids in half life, a few fire ants and head crabs arn't going to damage a child. The game has great narrative and characters like the robot dog. If I had kids i'd much rather they play something like this than MW2.

JsonHenry4962d ago

Good for him. I'm glad his dad lets him play real games and not that edutainment crap. Censoring mature games should only be for those crazy kids that can't tell the difference between that and reality.

Seferoth754962d ago

LMAO..Like kids are born and we all just know which ones are stable and which ones arent...
Are you 12? seriously that is the most retarded thing I have read in a long time.
All parents think their kids are more mature than they actually are...I'm going to stop there. So much is just wrong with your post. It shows a severe lack of life experience and understanding.

ShadowCK4962d ago

I'm gonna buy Fable 3. Haha.

number474962d ago

*sigh*

why did he have to reproduce.

FACTUAL evidence4962d ago

Peter Molyneux said fable 3 and his son was like, "GO AWAY!!" Even his son knows about Peter's horrible quality.

Lol! I can't believe the head of MS EU lets he's 7-10 year old son play half life, scap age ratings MS Europe, not even your main man obays them!

Eiffel4962d ago (Edited 4962d ago )

Well that's the human thing about it. Just because you work for a certain something doesn't mean you have to follow under their guidelines outside of the working area.

People were shocked when Bungie was playing Uncharted 2. Got to remember just like us, they are gamers too, and what interest gamers find, they will want to play, they arn't choice bound by whomever they work for. Even just recently Naughty Dog was playing Halo Reach, nothing better than seeing developers enjoying games by other studios and vice versa for the other, keeps a unity around this industry that makes us all gamers. From developer, consumer, we're all gamers.

butterfinger4962d ago (Edited 4962d ago )

Reading your comment with all of the factual, grammatical, and spelling errors was probably one of the hardest things I'll have to do today.

Hoolock4962d ago

What's the weather like on your planet?

Pandemic4962d ago (Edited 4962d ago )

Child slavery! .....

Main point in all this is to give us, the gamers, Half Life 3.

MagicAccent4962d ago

Child slavery... Hmm, now there's an idea for Fable 3..

DelbertGrady4962d ago

Peter M is awesome. A true visionary, and a funny one at that.

Studio-YaMi4962d ago

yeah he's a good dad (sort to speak since he got his child to play a mature game) but yeah he does seem like a good father to his son,but a true visionary ? come on...really ?

evrfighter4962d ago

The only RTS game to come close to Starcraft imo was Black and White. Visionary Indeed.

PirosThe4th4961d ago

Come on! My first PSX game that I played when I was 8 years old was Mortal Kombat Trilogy XD! LMAO

Any kid can handle that sh*t...

If we all go super protective with our kids when they are little.. they tend to do worse things than expected just because they can't play those games...

Peter Molyneux's new game is set in Fable's Albion

Project currently codenamed MOAT.

JusttJD0099193d ago

M.O.A.T

Misleader of all time?

jznrpg193d ago (Edited 193d ago )

It’s between him and Phil. I’d vote Phil

Obscure_Observer192d ago

"It’s between him and Phil. I’d vote Phil"

If Phil were the man that made my life miserable, I would vote for him as well.

Regarding the topic, it could be both Peter and Phil working together.

M.O.A.T takes place in Albion, so it´s possible that Pete is working on new partnership with Xbox, which imo, is nothing but great news!

GhostScholar192d ago

What exactly has Phil mislead about? I can’t wait to hear the verbal diarrhea you come with.

Cacabunga192d ago

Still waiting for Milo and Kate.. most lmao game OAT

Becuzisaid193d ago

Wait.

His name is still used as a selling point for new games? Seriously?

jznrpg193d ago

If anyone knows his name you have to be extremely skeptical that what he delivers will be anything like what he says it would be and that’s best case scenario.

RaiderNation193d ago

He's like the "Tom Clancy" of video games.

InUrFoxHole193d ago

Lol what the hell man?!?!?

Number1TailzFan193d ago

I remember Black & White (PC) but other than that I can only think of Fable, B&W was a pretty cool game tho at the time.

sagapo193d ago

Populous was another one designed by Peter, released before B&W, godlike game as well, pretty good too.

Giblet_Head192d ago

I quite liked Magic Carpet growing up.

Obscure_Observer192d ago (Edited 192d ago )

"His name is still used as a selling point for new games? Seriously?"

The guy is a gaming legend for gamers who actually knows and played his games, like Dungeon Keeper, Populous, Black & White and Fable for example.

Becuzisaid192d ago

I'm certain that most who actually know who he is would contest your use of legend. He's the living, human embodiment of false advertising.

Obscure_Observer192d ago

@Becuzisaid

There´s an abyss between false advertisement and bad games.

Most gamers will get excited for games from great gaming creators rather than focus on their exaggerated promises.

Kojima described his Xbox exclusive game as "very unusual like no one has ever experienced before, leveraging the cloud." He said all publishers he presented the project, called him mad and rejected his game but Microsoft, because it´s too crazy.

Is Kojima exaggerating? Obviously. It´s gonna be a bad game? Hardly.

Imagine a game where Peter Molyneux presents an extraordinary set of ideas that players will enjoy for years to come. Now imagine that this particular game will come out because it will never exist.

Profchaos193d ago

Does Milo live under a bridge there

shinoff2183193d ago

Captain overseller is returning. Ain't heard his name in years.

Peter Molyneux has high hopes for Playground's Fable

One of the biggest reveals at this year's Xbox Games Showcase was the latest Fable trailer. After a lengthy stint of silence, Playground Games gave us a look at bits of the title, albeit in a trailer that was mostly made up of CGI nonsense headlined by comedian Richard Ayoade, who is playing a rather frustrated giant.

Molyneux asked about what he thought about the Fable reveal.

Damm thats a name I haven't heard from in what seems like since forever.

Michiel1989294d ago

he actually was in the news every now and then with a (couple) scam games he made

A failed hack designer has high hopes for Fable lol incoming flop confirmed!

Godmars290294d ago

Well, he's not associated with it. Giving interviews talking about features never at any point mentioned with devs let alone introduced.

It might have a chance.

Godmars290294d ago

Peter Molyneux: Hideo Kojima minus ability and skill.

Godmars290294d ago

Think you mean ethics.

Also, whose defending Molyneux? Wasn't his last game a literal ripoff with him offering a prize but not giving it?

KwietStorm_BLM294d ago

I wonder if those hopes are higher or lower than Milo?

Peter Molyneux's studio 22cans suffers layoffs

From GI.biz: "UK developer 22cans has suffered a round of redundancies, GamesIndustry.biz has learned.

The studio, founded by Fable creator Peter Molyneux, has laid off multiple employees, although an exact figure has not been disclosed.

A spokesperson said: "Unfortunately, due to a number of factors including projects reaching a certain stage in their development, we can confirm that a number of roles at 22cans have been made redundant."

sourOG1163d ago (Edited 1163d ago )

Doesn’t that always happen with every studio lol? Contract workers for certain stages.

kythlyn1163d ago

I'm just surprised 22cans is still in business. They aren't communicating at all with their customers and they've abandoned their games in early access. Godus is still a mess that they're happy to keep selling without support. I kickstarted that game, and I have regrets.

Skywalker3331163d ago

Indeed, I was almost certain that they had closed down sometime ago :P

sourOG1163d ago

Wow that blows. I haven’t heard anything about them either, I just figured they were quietly working on something like ken Levine’s ghost story games.

Eamon1163d ago

Seriously, what is Peter Molyneux up to these days? In his prime, he was the most famous western developer in the world. Now he's doing f all.

njitram20001163d ago

If you look at the 22cans website...mobile games apparently

MasterChief36241163d ago

People became privy to his practice of promising big and delivering small. He is the perennial example of an artist that has huge ambition but not the resolve to follow through with those promises. I don't dislike him, as he has brought us some good games. But he is a constant punchline for me when I think of developers getting high and mighty.

Jericho13371163d ago

I saw an interview a few years ago saying he was inspired by the mobile gaming market and that anyone can become a “gamer”.

Such a shame, for all his critics he’s brought us some fantastic games and I’m sure he’d still be able to contribute something to the core gaming market.

lonewolf101163d ago

I'm surprised that they are still going to be honest.

fitofficial1163d ago (Edited 1163d ago )

They're not actually layoffs, they're fantastical multi-faceted journeys into lands of unimaginable unemployment giving the worker near-infinite freedom of choice.

jznrpg1163d ago

Yes . Classic Peter Molyneux
