StrGmr: EyePet Review: My Palms are Sore from Rubbing my Monkey

StrengthGamer: I was unfortunate enough to play EyePet for a few hours today. You can bathe your pet, make it jump through hoops, wiggle your fingers to make it pounce, have it follow your glowing Move controller ball, draw pictures that the pet then draws, and play a few mini-games including one where you fly an airplane through the sky popping balloons. While this may sound interesting, it's definitely not.

Lol. I thought the lowest score was 3.

Edit: How the heck IGN gave 8 out of 10?

Ilikegames765010d ago

is a shooter/FPS fan. This game is not for everyone. My children though, like the game.

AnthonyAccinell5010d ago

I'm a fan of games that work. My 4-year old daughter couldn't.even get it to work.

ApocalypseShadow5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

the game is totally easy to set up and play.if you couldn't do it....that's just a fail.you're supposed to help your daughter play.

and the game is definitely not a 1.i don't plan on buying it but the demo was crazy easy....

if you can't play this, how do you ever think to play demon souls like the rest of us?

YoungKingDoran5010d ago

so were you watching and laughing at her fail or something?

I have no idea why you were having trouble but it worked flawlessly for me and as odd as this feels to say the eye pet is adorable and very entertaining.. I wasted 45 minutes doodling odd looking shapes and having eyepet draw and then build the shapes.. I even managed to draw a car that he hoped on and flew around.. Very neat, sounds like to me you are just jaded and therefore didnt give the game a chance.. Ohh well it will sell based on cute factor...

Shadow Flare5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

No way in hell is this game a 1/10. I had this game before move released and it was good back then, even if a few parts were a bit difficult to make work. But with move, it picks up everthing accurately now. The game has many different sorts of challenges you can do. Sorry, but this review is absolute bull. No where near a 1/10. I would give it 8/10. Like I think IGN did. I enjoyed this game, so much so that I platinumed it. And that was before the move edition. So obviously it worked even before move

morganfell5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

Did anyone else actually see the website from where this laughable review came? When I am twisting my head sideways because portrait screens are in the landscape position on that horrible plain background then it becomes clear why setting up this game kicked their intellectual ass. Something like monopoly would have the writer *cough* positively suicidal.

And how egotistical and dire are you for the world to swallow your opinion when you create the site, write the review, and submit it to N4G yourself. One can only imagine how many of the approving accounts are the writer's. *cough*

Are supposed reviews of an entire 22 or so sentences relevant? Hardly. The webmaster (snicker, snicker) can't even manage to hyperlink sources, or any web address for that matter. This is little more than the worthless ravings of an individual that could not set up and run the game THAT EVERYONE ION THE INDUSTRY MANAGED WITHOUT INCIDENT. EVEN MY NEIGHBOR'S 9 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DID IT BY HERSELF.

This fact alone is all the intellectual indictment we need to comprehend that this worthless article, if such brief vomitus qualifies as such, is little more mental bathroom tissue.

DatNJDom815010d ago (Edited 5009d ago )

is probably the dumbest thing I have read all day. Granted this game isn't a God of War, but a 1. Let me guess the kinect games will all get 8s right? maybe because its so easy to set up. I dont like to offend but if you cant calibrate a move controller then how can you even be allowed to type an article online? You do know its harder to type? Please, sir step away from the computer. I call BS.

Homicide5009d ago

Or maybe he just hated the game.

It should be noted that an 8 on IGN is equal to about a 6 in places that actually use the whole review scale.

callahan095010d ago

Gimme a break. IGN *has* been using "the whole review scale" this entire year. I've seen lots of games score all over the board. Just on PS3 exclusives, they gave Tumble a 3.5, whereas the next lowest score was a 6, and all other scores were between 7 and 9. They gave MAG a 7, whereas it averaged to 76. They gave White Knight Chronicles like a 5 and it averaged to a 64. They've scored more than a few games this year lower than the other critics.

Pandemic5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

Wow, they did too,
http://au.ps3.ign.com/artic...

The person that gave it a 1 might just hate the Playstation..

raztad5010d ago

This has to be one of the dumbest reviews I've came across. Just reading the name of the game you realize it is not a game for mature, single dudes. WTF? it is suppose to be a Pet simulator of sorts. WTF again. Probably the guy was expecting the game to be a shooter.

Christopher5010d ago

Yeah, sorry, but unless a game is broken to all hell and doesn't actually do what it says it does, then no game deserves a 1/10.

I get that EyePet may not be the type of game someone likes to play, such as myself, but it's a functioning game nonetheless.

This is like giving Nintendogs a 1/10. It's a ridiculous score.

ALFAxD_CENTAURO5010d ago

I'm starting to believe this people complaining to give a very low score is not having a good calibration or something.

How in IGN or other sites say it works, but in this review say it is not.

callahan095010d ago

This is a great game. That's how IGN gave it an 8 out of 10. A 1 out of 10 is completely ridiculous. Hell, I'm 26, a hardcore gamer, and never thought I would like this, but my girlfriend wanted it, so I bought it, and it is really a cool game. It's interesting seeing that little monster come to life in front of you, and the way it interacts with you and or the motion controller is quite cool. The minigames are simple and fun. The controls work perfectly. I enjoy it, but really it's her thing. She loves that little monkey monster, it's just incredibly cute and the game is a unique and perfect example of what's possible with augmented reality.

The headline article is funny lol

PS3ROCKS5010d ago

Game was complete shit. I couldn't get anything to work.

AnthonyAccinell5010d ago

I LOVE how you automatically go the fact that "you're doing it wrong". OOORRRRR maybe the game doesn't work?! Isn't the point that a 4-year old can sit on the ground and play with the stupid little monkey? It doesn't work. Plain and simple.

KratosGirl, have you even played it?

despair5010d ago

@AnthonyAccinell

except this is the first time I'm reading that someone couldn't get it to work, so if everyone else got it to work then its not the games fault is it.

Ilikegames765010d ago

it was released early in Asia. My children love the game, and it works just fine. But the card that came with the game should be facing the PS eye when you want to interact with your Eyepet. I don't know what you were doing wrong to give it a 1. In my opinion it's at least an 8 for being original and making the most out of augmented reality gameplay.

strickers5010d ago

I've owned it for ages and it works but card makes it fiddly.Move should improve it no end. It's never a 1.I'd give it a 6(but then I wouldn't handle out the 9 and 10s review sites do either. It's a 10 point scale not a 4 point scale).

callahan095010d ago

The game works. It doesn't "not work." These are facts. HOWEVER, it requires a lot of light in the room for some reason. The game didn't work with my hands to do the petting actions and stuff at first, only with the controller. But then I turned on the extra light in my living room (much brighter in here now), and everything works absolutely perfectly. So yeah if you don't have a ton of light in your room, it kind of half-works.

MultiConsoleGamer5010d ago

Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey

Chapulin5010d ago

I works great. My children love it. Just gotta help them set up the camera and stuff. Once you got it set up it works great.

sashimi5010d ago

Some parents apparently fail at setting it up lol.

whothedog5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

You must be doing it wrong because the game doesn't work. hahahah

In case you didn't pick it up that's sarcasm baby.
