Why Fable III Might Be The Game The First One Should Have Been

The story of the Fable series is incredibly interesting- it is a tale of crushing disappointment, bitter resentment, and unfulfilled promise on the one hand, and a charm that appeals to everybody, a satisfaction with what one has, and a fairy tale allure on the other. Funnily enough, the adjectives used above could be used to describe not only the overarching plots of the Fable games, but also about their general perception amongst the gaming public.

Agreed. Its a very slight improvement from Fable 2 as visuals go. I wonder what game play innovations they have done in the game :S

Windex2956d ago

second one didnt even live up to the promises made for the first one....

Peter made it sound like u could actually have deep interaction with people by farting and such.

and it was most shallow experience i've ever got.

Well thanks for finally giving us game that should have came out in 2007 or 2008. Just like Halo Reach would be an outstanding game in 2007, but in 2010 the competition is just better.

PopEmUp2956d ago

too much promises and then end up with nothing :D

Honestly, I dont think it can top Fable: Lost Chapters (one of my ALLLLL Time favourite Action RPGs EVER.. it hangs near Z:OoT for me.

Fable 2 on the other hand, didn't leave a lasting memory. So while it was a good game, it definitely didn't live up to it's prequel.
So i hope that Fable 3 will be the game Fable 2 should have been!

(Yes I'm getting Fable 3.. heck, I got fable 2)

The most disappointing aspect of Fable 2 was the main storyline.. the environment was historical rich and everything.. but the MAIN plot line was just horrible :(

I'm looking forward to playing Fable 3 :D
(one of my most anticipated WRPGs at this time)

In my opinion, I think Fable 3 looks a lot better than Fable 2.

Fable 3 shows off a nice lush world with great open vistas. Can't wait to see more of Fable 3. :)

We'll see what the game engine can do on PC graphics wise, if it isnt better than the first on 360 then there is something very wrong

Absolutely loved Fable 2..

Couldn't put it down...played it 3 times in a row..the 2nd just to get my dog back and the 3rd to be 'EVIL'

I was addicted to making money buying up all of the property..but I loved the whole feel of the game and the fact that it didn't take itself so seriously like some RPGs do..

I want to buy all 4 of the RPGs coming out next month..

Buy Fable 3 and Fallout are on the top of the list..

Life is good

oh people stop being ignorant and ungreatful about what the first game should of been it was a good game and defo excited me, granted its not perfect but come on name me one perfect game just one

JsonHenry2955d ago

This article keeps saying that things were held back by technology not being there... this Fable is going to be on PC so if it doesn't have the "tech" to go with Peter's ideal game then we know what the limiting factor was.

I think it was more of just somewhat sloppy game design. I really enjoyed the first one. I couldn't force myself to complete the second one though. The whole family thing and having to keep up with that was too much "the sims" for me. I wanted a grand high fantasy adventure with a little comedy mixed in. Not a family game that almost forces you to buy/own property to make a living and get all the better things in the game.

I AM looking forward to Fable 3 though. especially since I can play it on my PC.

I'll be cautious... Fable II was FULL of flaws. I might pass on this one.

But in the end I love those games and I can't wait for this game.

BaKon2956d ago

It is very unique from what i have read so far, the whole kingdom thing.

Nihilism2956d ago (Edited 2956d ago )

Public Enemy said it best "don't believe the hype".

I think they need to spend more time on the story and gameplay than create childish B.S like characters in the game farting *giggles like a little girl* but seriously, who the hell wants fable when DA2 and the Witcher 2 are coming out soon.

Didn't see you comment, it's like we are the same person, of maybe just that fable is universally a joke...

ReservoirDog3162956d ago

Yeah that's always been my problem with Fable.

"create childish B.S like characters in the game farting"

The game looks cool but that style of humor just isn't my thing. It's good for those who like that and a way to differentiate itself from the mood of Oblivion but it just isn't for me.

Though I'm not exactly writing Fable 3 off just yet.

Elven62955d ago

Both Dragon Age 2 and Witcher 2 won't be released until mid next year. Fable III releases in October, if you don't want any RPG gaming to fill the gap that's fine but I'll be picking up Fable III along with Two Worlds II.

People seem to expect too much from Fable mechanically, it's not supposed to be a hardcore RPG by any means. Despite that in my opinion, it's still a great game that has some cool mechanics to it.

I've been on the fence about Fable 3, and that video made me want the game less. Really waiting for an in-depth review before I go out and buy it.
