Halo: Reach Midnight Release Survival Guide

mygamertalk- Showing up to a midnight release without knowing what’s going on is kind of like going to a family reunion — you won‘t have a good time, you‘ll feel like an idiot, and you’ll probably be stuck there for a few hours. No need to worry though, with a good game plan, a good idea of what’s going on, and a few pro-tips by yours truly, not only are you going to live through this mess, but you’re going to be the coolest guy or girl (more like only girl) there. So strap on a helmet and grab a battle rifle, because we’re going in hot.

Went to halo 2 midnight launch, and it took so dam long to get game and was so annoying that wen me and buddies got back to my house, we played for 15 minutes before we bounced lol.

It is an experience that you should try once....once.

I picked up Halo 3 at midnight.

By the time I got home I just wanted to hit the rack. I ended up playing it for 10 minutes and went to bed. Woke up in the morning (4 hours later) dog tired and frustrated with myself for not just waiting till that morning to pick it up. I was fried the whole day.

I will never do that again.

I will walk into my local Best Buy at 10am and walk out 3 minutes later with a copy in my hand. No reserve, no problems, no worries and I wont be too tired enjoy the game.

Yeah, my Halo 2 midnight release was a real shit-show. Had no idea what I was doing, apparently they were using some sort of ticket system or something to call people up. It was such a huge disorganized mess, me and my buddy were there until about 3 in the morning. This was back in highschool too so we had to be up in about 3 and a half hours.

The way they do it now though is pretty cool. Literally takes like 20 mins to cycle 200 or so people through to get their games. Definitely worth it if you have late classes or a day off of work.

I picked up ODST at the midnight launch. Never seen so many little kids with their parents before in my life.

I think ill just pick up reach during the day.

LOL! Same here. I've been to 2 midnight releases Gears 2 and ODST! I'm not a nerd by my standards but there were some geek monsters out there. By the time I got home I played maybe 20min the most and had to rack out! The gamestop I pre ordered from isn't having a midnight release so I'm gonna get some good sleep and on tue it's on!

PtRoLLFacE3419d ago

well this guide doesn't work for my area

first you need to get a whole bunch of friends to go with you, the more they are the better

get your self some sort of weapon cuz going to by your self at mid night around here you ll ether get robed or get bit up by whole bunch of black guys

ether way the local game stores around here they all have halo reach already, if your from NJ and happen to live in Newark you should check you local stores

elementum3418d ago

It truly is an experience isn't it. Sounds like you're playing halo irl too

Step 4. Profits

Jack-Pyro3419d ago

Your plan is so good, I might just steal it and call it my own >=D

Wizziokid3419d ago (Edited 3419d ago )

My survival guide:

step one: wake up
step two: make coffee & get ready
step three: wait patently at the door for postman
step four: answer door & receive pre-order of the game
step five: enjoy coffee and play me some Halo

why queue up for a game when you can stay at home and have it brought too you? ;)

jrbeerman113419d ago

How long does it take mailman to get it to you, thought about ordering like that but i dont get mail until 4-5 afternoon

Wizziokid3419d ago

my mail usually comes between 9 and 10am, but my order was sent out yesterday which means I might even get the game on the Monday which has happened a couple of times when I've ordered from

GaMe013419d ago

Mine usually gets here about 10am - 11:30am

@wizziokid you forgot

Step 6 wonder what to buy with you $20.00 amazon credit for pre ordering halo reach

mercsfan3419d ago

It depends on where you live, and how close you are to an UPS center. I usually get mine around 2-3pm

Rubberlegs3418d ago (Edited 3418d ago )

That's not true for everyone, it depends how the routes are setup too. Houses a few blocks below me get mail at noon (delivered by a different person too), I don't get mail until 4pm and I'm even closer to the post office then the houses below me.
I never understood why it takes so long, my block is like the place to get mail.

This is why I never order new release games online. If it comes UPS I won't get it until 5-6pm.

midnight launches are retarded, even more retarded are the people that wait there for hours for the game. if you have the game reserved, just show up at midnight, wait int he line, get your game and leave. Theres no point in sitting around in the cesspool of social awkwardness that is a midnight launch party for any longer than you have to.
