If you read the quote from the Bible literally, it doesn't make any sense--like the rest of the Bible. But if you take it, instead, as a lesson of compassion, then it makes perfect sense. They church and its methods of scripture helped subdue vast amounts of people to be 'good' or they would burn an eternity in hell. They took this very seriously due to lack of education, no one went to school let alone read any books (Printing press invented late 1600's if i remember right).

Anyway, fast forward today and the Church has become drastically less powerful in Developed (Educated) countries. When a church can have a 'government enforced' taxation system, have crusades that kill hundreds of thousands of men, women and children in the name of 'god', harbor pedophiles and be exposed for a HUGE infestation makes it even more of a joke.

A university study done in the late 80's early 90's had two patients whom have had numerous operations over their lives (similar healing time--a little more technical than that though) that the person having people pray for her healed not faster but actually slower than the women without people praying her. Why? The person that was being prayed for was also a religious person, her mind was fixated on god and hope that her mind wasn't fully focused on healing while laying in bed; her mind was almost diluted from using its full ability to repair itself--there have been many similar studies since science literally breaks new frontiers consistently that disprove religions consistently, coupled with history and economic facts (business system) for profits so vast would rival that of a large corporation.

Also, the church still makes great profits but do you know from where? Developing countries/ Third world, pretty simple if you've read what i've said...(Family traditions and lack of education being the biggest). They still prey on the overtaxed and extremely poor by asking for money when they truly dont need it from them. It has negative effects on their ability to survive. But I guess thats why the church has their own bank/system--because they have such little amounts of money to help betters people lives. The church rarely does, I see more good things coming for just normal, plain, good people.

But religion does teach good values for child of young ages. I went to church and while I learn their lessons, it was nothing my parents couldn't have done in a more effective manner. However not everyone has the ability to do this, and church fits the bill.

The church is not something I believe in as I became more educated and statistically the higher up the educationally tree you go the lower and lower % of religious persons you find. Why is that? Likey because at the highest level of education these are the people writing new laws of physics and breaking the laws of current reality. Fewer make these type of things happen as you go down the educational tree, and lack of education = lack of understanding of everything around us.

Education can be self taught or at a school, but regardless its an essential part of of moving into the 20-first century. Where in a time when people only prayed for help, people lived shorted and died sooner (So much for gods help?) where you'd be lucky to not see 1 out of 4 of your children die before 20. Science has always been a solution, real solution to our problems, in a time today when less and less people pray people are living longer and better lives than they did a 400-500 years ago.

You can't feel the pain of all that lost life. There were two passengers in the back of the SUV. They are now gone. They also had families. An empath would also feel the pain the driver responsible for these deaths would feel. You are a judge. The reason why I say that is that most people on here will be back to trolling in a few hours and forget completely about this thread that PS3, XBOX, and PC gamers and maybe even some Wii gamers are all agreeing on something. We all love games, so why do we hate on each other all the time?

Think about this for a second... say if Green Ring were to die tomorrow in a similar fashion, do you think that the same would be said of him? Or any of the fanboys on this site.

As devastating as this ladies mistake may be there really is no reason to give her such a lengthy sentence. She just made a dumb decision that caused a terrible accident. Everyone in the world makes mistakes, this mistake is a little dumber then most but still it was just a bad decision. She never intentionally tried to harm anybody. I think she should do some time but very little. 6 months in jail seems fine with me. It would be criminal to give her a more lengthy sentence then you would give a child rapist. Most likely that will be the case. Then the justice system goes down the crapper yet again. Either way its a shame this had to happen.

When I read this story, I immediately thought back to this Asian guy who was an editor at CNET.com who died while trying to get help in the bitter winter months in some rather remote place. He gave all his clothes to his pregnant wife and searched for help. His body was found not 1 mile from where the car was, and he had gone in circles.
He saved his wife, due mainly to the clothes he gave them before setting off.

Totally didn't know about that. It's a shame the James Kim had to suffer such a terrible fate, but like Erin Wood, he sacrificed his life just so that his wife and two daughters could live. What's more, even after giving them his clothes, he still set out to find help.

Both of these men are examples we should aspire to, not simply just read about and admire. But reading the majority of the comments on this thread, I'm not seeing as many jokes or fanboyism as I usually see in an N4G thread. So I think that's a real start.

As for those wishing death and/or torture to the perpetrators, they'll most likely get a harsh sentence, with the woman driving facing the worst.

The crime here was senseless but the sad truth is that life threatening situations can arise in a single instant. This man knew in a split second that all he could do was take the force of the collision to help create a chance for his family to live. Any driver would do the same to avoid hitting head on. I've been driving for last 20 years and by any chance of something even as minute as a cat or dog running infront of the car you tend to immediately swerve to avoid running over, whether it may be right or left.

I'm not cynic but that's natural tendency and if some car crosses over to your side it's either to swerve to left on the opposite road which is rather foolish as other cars might be behind so the most rapid/relex action is to swerve hard right towards the shoulder but the poor guy didn't get enough time to avoid the other car and got hit on his side.

Even though his wife made him a hero in few secs it's the reflex action not a logical thought which goes in someone's mind.

But in any case loss is a loss and may he RIP and the girl suffers the guilt for rest of her life.
