You might’ve been wondering what the hell happened to Ninja Theory. You know, those guys behind the sex-sational Heavenly Sword. Well, they’ve been toiling long and hard on their new project, Enslaved. In simplest terms, it’s a revamped version of 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West, though you’d be more familiar with the TV show it spawned, Monkey. A mix of platforming, brutal combat, and motion capture that permeates its every pore, how can you not get excited? After a hands-on session, we cornered Nina to get the lowdown on Monkey, Trip(itaka) and how they work together.
According to FTC filings, Microsoft acquired Ninja Theory for $117 million.
Ninja Theory is made of very talented and passionate developers.
I´m glad that saw that studio´s potential and chose it to be part of the Xbox family!
Now under Xbox they´re AAA and has all the freedom and resources in the world to deliver amazing games for us!
Thank you Phil and Tameem Antoniades.
Damn this really puts into perspective yet again how good a deal sony got for insomniac...the workhorse of the industry at this point.
They have High potential. Add some good combat mechanics and action to go with the graphics and story telling. Ad you got a mega hit.
Ninja Theory outlines the upgrades made for performance capture, leading to more realistic animations in the upcoming sequel.
This game looks incredible. Loved the first one, the story was good. I’m curious to see where they take it.
Guys! Ffs, just show a normal bit of the game. Yes the motion capture technology and graphics fidelity looks great, but my god… it’s like all that we ever see. I want to see another VGA level showcase where we see more of the combat or something other than a cutscene or showing off the tech.
Announced in 2019, and not a lick of gameplay. Might as well just produce a movie at this point.
"No. For clarity, we use this AI tech for placeholder content only to help us understand things like timing and placement in early phases of development. We then collaborate with real actors whose performances are at the heart of bringing our stories to life."
It does have the potential to replace voice actors and given that publishers are insanely greedy it is without a doubt that publishers will push for their replacement, and gamers will complain but still buy games.
It will definitely replace voice actors unless it's an iconis voice like Kratos, Snake, etc. I think those need real actor, for the time being anyways.
Everything else in a game is fake. Why not? If you can have an AI give a great performance as real as a real actor or actress, I'm good. Programmers can even fake the motion capture with enough effort.
Maybe it'll make some games cheaper than run to celebrities with high pay requirements where the money goes to them just to be in a game. And you see it should have gone to making a better game or fixing bugs before launch because the game is broken.
I like real acting. But when cost is detrimental to a game, that's a problem. Voice or real likeness.
Am Im the only who thinks the characters are really ugly in this game. The girl looks like an ugly version of Nariko and don't get me started on the guy! Anyway this game looks ok. I hope they release a demo.
This game just looks amazing. Definitely my number 1 game for the rest of the year.
