Can we stop whining about "greedy companies?"

From the page:

"Greed. One of the seven deadly sins. A simple five letters, yet no one seems to be able to talk about greed properly in the gaming world. We constantly hear about the greed of big companies like Microsoft and Sony due to their apparent desire to charge us out the ass for everything.

Early this week, news broke that Microsoft was raising the subscription fee of its Xbox Live Gold service by ten dollars, and the G word began to fly around. Microsoft is obviously driven by nothing but greed. They’re out to screw over the consumer.

I don’t think you understand what greed is."

ahh now i understand your scared people wont pay it cause there all saying there sick of the bs n ms might pull the plug...

"We’re quick to play the greed card because we don’t like paying more for things, and it just makes us look like bitchy little girls. Acting like bitchy little girls doesn’t get a company to reevaluate its pricing structure. It forces them to write us off"

say isnt this a site that lets anyone write blogs? maybe i outta join submit a "news" story of my own about emo live fans...

The Protestant Work Ethic has given way to the Bureaucratic Work Ethic.

Bureaucratic Work Ethic emphasizes the maximization of profit within legal means.

The Protestant Work Ethic emphasizes mutual agreements, hard work, and accomplishing work as a reward unto itself.

Microsoft will push for more money as long as they can. They don't care about keeping promises to customers or rewarding loyalty. That's why I never understood fanboyism in America. Corporations aren't going to reward loyal consumers in this country.

taking it like a bitch and letting yourself be run over doesn't seem like the right thing to do
people working assembly line in meatpacking is dangerous and terribly underpaid for the risk yet none of that would change if everyone just ignored it and let the industry do as the pleased just so they could marginally raise their profit margins
ignoring everything isn't very smart

Take a product that is free elsewhere, charge for it and then raise the price. How is that not greedy?

their competitor charged ($0) to play their last gen system(ps2) online.charged ($0) to play their portal system(psp) online.then charged ($0) to play their next gen system online.

while microsoft, the first chance they got, charged for online play on their last gen system.charged for online play with their next gen system.TRIED to charge for PC online play but got sent packing.

but it falls in line with all their unnecessary overcharging of wifi, flash drives, memory cards, hdds,DLC,microsoft points that never really hit zero,add-ons like odst,crackdown2,etc.

even the ELITE system, which sells for the same price as the competitor's system, should cost less being that it's dvd based and has no bluray drive and other features its competitor has built in.even future games for their camera will cost $(60) when their competitor's motion games will cost $(40).

even developers bare the brunt of overcharging as if they make any multiple disc games, they receive a penalty.

the difference between microsoft and big oil is that with big oil, even with a high tax,you at least get somewhere.with microsoft, you get nowhere and run out of gas from your wallet being emptied.

greed can easily be recognized.it's not that difficult.they came into the industry and are taking gamers to the cleaners.while not pushing the envelope on the amount of gamers in a single online game like MAG(but they are software developers),not willing to spend on expanding 1st party developers or pushing game engines to their limits.

but hey, they got BILLIONS in the bank.why give gamers a break or spend money on them?they're a business, not a charity.you either buy into their GREED,or buy a ps3 or wii.
