New Castlevania to Include Topless Enemies?

With Castlevania: Lords of Shadow getting ready to drop, it’s interesting to take a look at its rating: M for Blood and Gore, Nudity and Violence. Did they just say “Nudity”?

jaredhart5409d ago

Makes it even more similiar to God of War.

Quagmire5409d ago (Edited 5409d ago )

Topless enemies? pfft, been there done that. (giggity)

A Cupcake for Gabe5409d ago

I'd giggity on some succubus boobies

Gawdl3y5408d ago (Edited 5408d ago )

Why the hell is nudity such a big deal to Americans?

EDIT: Oh wait, Puritan roots. That's why.

A Cupcake for Gabe5408d ago

It's taboo here in everyday life. It's like how people from Amsterdam aren't potheads, cause they can do it, so they are smart about it. If we'd see boobies on the morning news, then I am sure are pornography addiction would reduce at least 25% or more.

What do you want: What you can have or what you can't?

rodzilla4865408d ago

I had Dracula x for the Sega Saturn (same as SOTN) and the succubus were topless in the jp version. they were covered in the American release. the topless-ness of castlevania is nothing new. they had some nice artwork on the CD if ya put it in the computer. which also contained the boobies.

bfenty5409d ago

Wow... guess games will do anything to get an M rating.

Natsu X FairyTail5409d ago

Well the game is about Vampires and all that folklore stuff and there'S alot of topless females and demons in those. Gotta stick to the sources.

Sandwich Bender5409d ago

Nice justification, pervert! :P

dredgewalker5408d ago

I strongly agree with Natsu and they should be topless to be faithful to the original source.

Sarcasm5409d ago

What's wrong with boobies. At least we aren't to the point in the gaming industry of "We need penises"

Erotic Sheep5408d ago

I'm sure Kratos has a nice package on it's own lol >.>

CrzyFooL5409d ago

I've played the game and YES, there are boobies. Demon vampire boobies to be precise.

jaredhart5409d ago

Demon Vampire Boobies are the BEST!

Hitman07695409d ago

This is hot, I am gonna love this game :)

Enigma_20995408d ago

... even though the a**hole Kojima is involved?

Don't look at me, HE called him one.

xYLeinen5409d ago

Nudity is a part of movies, art, etc. Why not be a part of video games?

And lol at those who think at God of War owns the hack n slash genre. Get real. God of war didn't even start this genre. It just was a really good franchise. Devil may cry was made before God of War so.

Apotheosize5409d ago

While I agree, there is a pretty big difference between the two games. God of Wars combat is nothing compared to DMCs, where DMCs puzzles are simple and easy. I always loved GOW for its puzzles, and this game seems to have lots of puzzles and platforming.

eggbert5409d ago

I don't think most people, aside from the obvious trolls, actually thing it created the Genre. Most people are just pointing out that ever since its induction, God of War pretty much became the Hack n Slash standard. I mean yea, Dante's Inferno was great and Bayonetta was pretty sweet as well but they aren't really on the same scale as God of War.

You do have a point that there are so many idiots these days that know nothing about video games. Seriously, I've met people that think Halo was the FIRST first-person-shooter created.

fooltheman5408d ago (Edited 5408d ago )

If you play god of war on easy level...you could say that it's rinse and repeat...
that doesn't work on hard...or above

this is ment to hatchimatchi

pork_chop_express5409d ago

Most peoples problem is when did castlevania become hack and slash!?

Secondly this game makes dantes inferno look like the most original game ever made, the only people who dont think this is a gow rip off have not played god of war.

Simon_Brezhnev5409d ago

your 100% correct and will probably get a lot of disagrees

Chaos Striker5409d ago

You do know that Castlevania was a HacknSlash on the PS2 via Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness?

AND considering that Lament of Innocence preceded GoW 1, I'd say it is NOT a rip-off, but rather an evolution of the initial 3D Castlevania games.

Is that good enough?

pork_chop_express5408d ago (Edited 5408d ago )

@chaos
No lament of innocence wasn't a hack and slash, it was an equal share of platforming and combat which would be a push to call "slash" it was more like the 2d games but in a 3d environment had the same exploration elements from the gba games.

Listen I am not saying castlevania didn't come before GOW it did, but this is not that castlevania.

I doubt you have played gow but if u have watch this vid till the end and tell me its not a mechanical ripoff:
http://www.gametrailers.com...

genres are fine but imo devil may cry, ninja gaiden, god of war, while similar never clone. Same for dead space, gears of war, uncharted they evolve.

@Hatchi
why do you think i am posting i have no interest in scaling a titan, riding a horse on a set path, swinging a chain, balancing over wooden beams, scaling walls by shimmying, unleashing my rage mode, using qte's for every other enemy i fight. killing naked evil chicks, and smashing endless pots Twice in one year.

hatchimatchi5408d ago

Enough with the GOW comparisons. GOW is so freaking overrated. Yes, the graphics are good and the first game was pretty fun but it's been the same thing with 2, COO & 3. It's the same rinse-repeat gameplay and Kratos is easily one of the worst characters ever. All he does is scream.

"ARES!!" "ZEUS!!" "ATHENA!!" "I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!!"

n to the b5408d ago (Edited 5408d ago )

c'mon, u know u wanna say it:
"it STINKS!"

on topic - never played any god of war, just kiddin around with hatchimatchi here.

also - didn't symphony of the night technically have boobies? I'm pretty sure I remember seeing boobs on some background statue(s) or something...

hatchimatchi5408d ago

Ha. Well, the game doesn't stink. The GOW series are fun but they are extremely over rated and not the be end all of hack and slash. I normally don't really care about things like this but it's annoying because Lords of Shadow is shaping up to be a great title and all the GOW fanboys are coming into these threads and bashing in for the sake of bashing it.

Hudahudahuda5408d ago

Every game ever made will always have someone saying it's overrated.

Although being linear, which I wish it wasn't, the first game was absolutely incredible. A mix of old school God of War meets Date's Inferno; I was highly impressed by this title. I heard the sequel was trash so I ever played it but I think LoS was a good example of how a 3D CV game could be.

rgraf771718d ago (Edited 1718d ago )

I was very happy the game was Linear as I hate exploring. The first game was one of my all time favorites and the 2nd game was a total letdown with the lame hub system and stealth sections. Playing in current times sucked too. I wish they would make a remaster of part 1.

magdiellima1717d ago

Good as a game but terrible as a Castlevania. The sequence was even worse.

Terry_B1717d ago

It is a great game, but just like DMC is not a Devil May Cry..this one was not a Castlevania :-)

FreeckyCake1717d ago

Give Castlevania to Igarashi team, and they will nail it as they did with Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness.

Terrifyingly Bad: A Look Back At the 3D Castlevania Games

If you decide to play a Castlevania game, make sure it's in 2D. Unfortunately, the series has never been able to make the jump from 2D to 3D successfully. Publisher Konami has tried. Six times in fact, but whether trying to build it in-house or with a third party developer, they never captured the essence of the series or make a good game for that matter. So just to be sure you know what to look out for, here are the six 3D Castlevania games that have been made.

isarai2074d ago

I loved the hell out of lords of shadow, lords if shadow 2 had its moments but just didnt leave as much of an impact on me as the first did, still loved it though. They are both great games IMO, maybe not the best "Castlevania" games but great games in their own right.

RememberThe3572074d ago

Yeah that first game was legit good. Really wish they hadn't taken a step back for the second, this series really looked great in 3D.

AK912073d ago (Edited 2073d ago )

According to one of the former devs of Mercury Steam the higher ups kept interfering with the sequel to the point where the game was nothing like what the dev team had envisioned for the sequel so we got the mess that was Lords of Shadows 2.

PhoenixUp2074d ago

I enjoyed Lament of Innocence and Lords of Shadow. They were entertaining titles and I wouldn’t mind trying Lords of Shadow 2 on PS Now.

Just because a game isn’t GOTY worthy does not mean it’s not worth playing. You could do a lot worse than those exceptional titles.

Abcdefeg2074d ago

Curse of darkness was ahead of its time

Hedstrom2074d ago

I really liked lament of innocence and Lords of shadow! Havent tried the other 3d games. But ive played most of the 2d games!

gangsta_red2074d ago (Edited 2074d ago )

I don't know why Castlevania: Lament of Innocence gets a bad rap. It was one of the best in the series at that time and really was a compliment to the Devil May Cry 3rd person style of action that was getting popular at that time.

I rented it on a fluke and was seriously surprised on how good it was. So much so I went out and bought a used copy of Curse of Darkness and instantly returned that trash.

The problem with Nintendo 64 games is they all tried to mimic the Mario/Zelda 64 style of gameplay and how could they not with that whacky ass N64 controller. Almost every game outside of Nintendo's own felt horrible and incomplete.
