EA boss: MOH won’t submit to ‘Taliban’ outcry

Publishing empire EA says it will not surrender its creative vision to the furore surrounding the upcoming Medal of Honor game.

EA Games president Frank Gibeau told Develop the game is a “creative risk”. He said he anticipated controversy, and he asked why films are immune to the denigration games routinely are subjected to.

The publisher is under fire from both MPs and the wider media for allowing players to assume the role of the Islamist political group the Taliban in the rebooted Medal Of Honor title, set for UK release October 15.

... there will always be a bunch of people overreacting to stuff like this.

The only people spreading fear are the governments of the west, the U,S actually has a terrorist threat metre, lol, way to keep everyone pre-occupied from the massive class divide in the U.S and entire towns with shops boarded up and entire blocks of new houses, all vacant as a monument to capitalist greed.

Yeah you're right, people who get bombed and illegally occupied....and fight back are clearly worse than the 'allies' who bomb civilians daily, and are currently illegally occupying several countries...

War = freedom
health care = slavery

U.S.A!, U.S.A!

I'm tired of the world succumbing to the fear that the Muslim religion tries to instill in everyone. Kudos to EA for not falling victim to another strong arm tactic set forth by religious extremists.

Of course they are not submitting or relenting, it is the basis of their marketing and publicity strategy.

No Taliban, no Fox news, no media outcry, no product hits and no presence in consumer mindset.

Talibans are here to stay, EA is not going to lose sales because some little morality issue.

Bad press is better than no press at all.

DEA Fresh3685d ago

EA is going to lose sales because they had a beta showing everyone how inferior this game is to its competition. I don't care who you do or don't get to play as. A bad game is a bad game

The guys makes an excellent point. The Film industry can put out whatever the hell they want and rather it be a film involving murder, rape, terrorism, child abuse, children killers, etc., These types of movies are widely received and damn near no one makes a peep about them. Their releases are met without any resistance and or public outcrys.

I'm willing to bet that 90% or more of these people yelling, bitching, and screaming SHAME ON EA & MOH are the same people who have faithfully supported and watched the caliber of movies mentioned above year over year and probably recommended other friends and family to go see or watch them.

I guess by these folks logic, the only people who are exempt of "portraying" acts of terrorism are the guys standing behind the camera and the Director who yells- CUT! or thats a wrap, Great job Don Cheadele! What the hell makes them so special and untouchable by this fragile ass society?

Why should Game Developer not be allowed to push the same envelope as Hollywood pushes? At the end of the day its this kind of controversy that going to ensure the success of MOH. Its free advertising, so thank you dumb ass, double standard having ass idiots for making the game bigger than it probably would've been had you just shut your pie holes and watched your copies of 9/11 on DVD or Blu Ray withh your children.

Go Forth EA! Go f'n Forth, I salute you and your big ass ballz. XD
