CN: Astro A30 Audio System reviewed: “Expensive, but worth every penny”

CN: "The A30 Audio System are premium headphones. They cost a pretty penny, but ten minutes basking in its rich, 5.1 surround sound will easily justify your investment. Its steep price tag might mean the A30 isn’t for everybody, but if you fancy yourself an audio connoisseur (or game professionally), you’ll definitely want to check these beastly, stylish headphones out."

My surround sound for my PC is 7.1 and I have a sound card to support them aswell. I have been looking for a headset recently with a mic however, nothing too expensive.

What's your price range look like?

Alot of PC headphones aren't natural 5.1 or 7.1 --rather they usually have only two drivers per ear cup and then use a mixer to simulate surround sound. However, I've used Astro and the Razer Megaladons (Megaladon is like $170'sh) and they both are awesome.

If you're looking for something a tad cheaper, maybe try out these:

I've heard these are pretty nice too.

Meh, mixed reviews on these cans. Supposedly the headset is crap but the MixAmp is really good. Just buy yourself the MixAmp and get some better headphones.

When it comes to sound I only trust a few brands because they are reliable and sound great: Logitech, Plantronics, and Creative Labs.

you can use an external mic and pair it with some Audiophile Quality Headphones and the mix amp
that is what i did for my PS3 and there is no looking back
i recommend the AD700 from Audio Technica :)

i bought a pair the other day, awesome... i'm completely broke after it but it was worth it...

i can pinpoint where everyone is in mw2 which has got me a lot of extra kills and saved me quite a few times too :D

best used with sitrep pro :L

I can still pinpoint where people are with my headset. I find Ninja Pro better, your own footsteps don't interfere with everyone's around you since you don't make a sound. I'm sure the quality of the headset in the article is much better quality, just stating that pinpointing where someone is is also possible with Turtles. I do LOVE the look of the Astro's though!

no, p21's suck at soundwhoring.

i got p21 and trust me the sound quality/pin pointing is awful compared to ad700's with mixamp.

adlt3006d ago

I'm just saying I can pinpoint enemies locations by sound with P21's too.
