Because Oblivion was one of, if not the best single player experience that exists. All efforts and resources should go to improving on that. Not multiplayer.

You can have both with that kind of game. Putting in the support where others can join in with your quests and stuff. or even make single player character and have a whole new one where you can only play that character in multiplayer. Hello Diablo 2 anyone?

multiplayer, if done correctly (demon's souls) can MAKE a game. doesn't have to be your tipical COD MP, something different like friends cn join you to help or wtv.

With Bethesda behind you, there is nothing stopping you. They have gone from a small east coast developer to a fucking industry powerhouse in a matter of years. ZeniMax media and Bethsoft have made some of the best decisions in the industry as of late.

If someone told me I could buy out id software, and I actually pulled it off, I might spontaneously combust.

That's a big, big quote. Given that Todd Howard is not Peter Molyneux, that's something that got my attention very quickly. I hope beyond hope that this is Elder Scrolls V.

Lemme guess...

RPG. Tragically poor character animations. Buggy inventory system. Severely limited enemy variety. Graphical improvements masking degradation in game play and depth vs. past efforts. These are all hallmarks of Bethesda. The last great game they made was the second Elder Scrolls.

I dream of a game with a huge open world, beautiful environments with a lot of variety, believable plant and animal life, underwater caves, tropical forests and so on. I want a huge world to explore, knowing nothing about the world when I begin my journey. That would be truly awesome :)

I don't care what it is as long as it's an RPG that runs on id Tech 5, which I'm pretty sure it will be as I'm sure that's one of the major reasons they purchased id to begin with. Bethesda sucks at making engines; all their games are buggy messes (though still enjoyable) and look like crap. id is great at making engines and games that look amazing. Perfect couple.

fallout 3 is the only game I can't play in 1080p@60fps on my PC while it has very mediocre or even ugly graphics, only the HDR is decent

I remember my old 8800GT used to play Fallout 3 in 1080p with 60fps, and that was with most of the settings turned all the way up. But the slow downs every few seconds pretty much ruined all the immersion. Still have them now on my 5850, and I swear my 8800GT performed BETTER in some areas. Bloody useless engine.
