Ironstar: With Call of Duty: Black Ops on the horizon, one could only cringe in retrospect at all the flaws of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2; if you're like, me you haven't touched the game since a few weeks after launch.

I still play it. Not every day but still do, and I know three others who do the same. Just because the author doesn't, that doesn't mean a shit ton of others don't feel the same. Anyway, this was written for N4G and we know PS3 gamers - despite the crap Activision has been pulling - have hated the company since they dared threaten mighty Sony. Ironstarmovement represents no one nor stands for anything. They're just farming ya'll for hits.

i put the game down the week i bought it, i liked the single player but i despise the online. BTW its not only ps3 gamers that hate activison i know plenty of wii and PC fans that hate them.

Also i hated Activision even before i got my PS3 and even cared about Sony.

because the multiplayer wasn't as good as the first Modern Warfare. It was woefully imbalanced in many of its facets (despite what James Cameron said, more doesn't always equal more). Plus I had no desire to play through the incoherent guff that was the single player campaign.

it's still the most played online fps right now. so, despite its flaws, seems pretty successful to me.

i still play and have a great time.

people who dont like mw2 are the minority. It does have its flaws but name me a perfect game. You wont be able to because it doesnt exist. Mw2 can be frustrating but when you get in a good lobby with some decent players its the best online fps out there and the numbers back that up. I think most people just get angry with the game and dont give it enough time. You get used to the little flaws and begin to enjoy the game.

Popularity is not proof of superiority. Solid game but numbers only prove how many people play it. I could show you example after example but I doubt it would matter.

oh and on the campers part... you don't win a war by facing your enemy face to face, you win by looking through the lens of .50 cal Barrett, and staring at your enemy face to lens.

I disagree, its just the types of shooters that don't reward the player for camping aren't based in reality. Unreal Tournament and Quake type games don't reward camping. However, people don't like to play the more arcadey shooters anymore. It has to be "realistic" to sell. So I guess I agree with you on the fact that, "realistic" shooters will never not reward campers. I just don't see how they would design around that.

COD4 was a good game, but it had its fair share of flaws. lag deaths, noob hosts who left in the middle of the game, all the network problems, THE WORST respawn system in the entire gaming industry.

I was so excited for MW2, as I thought that they would fix all of these problems. You would think after selling more than 10 million copies of COD4, IW could at least afford to offer dedicated servers for MW2, but no. All the lag problems existed, and to add to that, the COD series took a turn from realistic, to fantasy. Example: Heartbeat sensors, teleportation(commando), tactical insertion(made boosting easier), sniper shotguns. It catered more towards the noobs rather than the pros.

The only thing I liked about MW2 are throwing knives. Once you get skilled at throwing them, its fun to hear how surprised people get when they die.

Its also fun to kill boosters.

But it's more than just MW1 being better, it's about sequels and general meltdown of what worked, in substitution for what's more noob friendly. This concept if fulfilled in MW2.

Agreed MW1 was better. The only thing i didn't like was the grenade spam, the Juggernaut perk (more health) and Martydom. At least MW2 nerfed these.

While the first game was leaps and bounds better, the devs put in ideas begged for by the community and it practically ruined the game per se. It really depends on the person. I still play MW2 regularly and have fun with it but its glaringly obvious how different it is from CoD4.

MW2 is one of the best FPS ever created for me. I hated it so much in the beginning, but since i had my own one and time to play and enjoy it, i felt in love with it. You are in a train that never stop with this game, and there is no others FPA game like that. I love it over KZ2, MW1 and a dozen of others similar games.

One of the best playing and looking games this gen. You definitely DON'T have to apologize for liking it. You are in good company and the VAST majority of " real " gamers not only loved the game but continue to love and play it everyday for hours on end on all systems. The dlc had more sales and revenue than many full games released this gen. People don't buy games they hate...lol.

COD Black ops has already surpassed the pre-orders that MW2 had and will no doubt be the highest selling multi-plat this year. WaW was not far behind MW2 in terms of sales and quality and I expect Treyarch to have a massive hit on there hands with this title.

Actually, REAL gamers that do like MW2 have gotten their fill of it, and have moved on to other gaming experiences. Real gamers do not play MW2 continuously since it has came out, and refuse to try another game.

Real gamers have moved on, and realized that while MW2 may have been fun (in their opinion), there are better games out there.

If the only thing you are playing since it came out is Modern Warfare 2, then you are the very definition of a casual gamer, and have no credible right to speak on anything related to gaming quality.

Awful, awful franchise that is overhyped by masses of blind trigger happy fanboys. Has no style or substance to it at all with it's bland, generic visuals and broken gameplay. Any child can pick up and play that shit. I'd rather play Battlefield, Killzone 2 or Halo 1-2 OR, Counter Strike. I'm not even a big fan of shooters but I love the games I just mentioned. Loved cod4 (had it for my ps3), and i bought mw2 for my pc on steam.. i regret spending $59 on it, and the $19 on the map pack..
i think i didnt get more than lvl 20.. to many cheaters.. perks unbalanced, and something felt different from cod 4 so.. its on my steam account just to use a couples of gb on my hdd...

Complaining that camping is a flaw is way off and to me that means your whining about being killed. Because camping is a tactic and some times its the best one. The video is hilariously true to the game. MW2 is imperfect in alot of ways, but I find it difficult to deny that I'm drawn to it. Those who stopped playing it after the first week probably had a 0.3 KDR. Not much to complain about really. If I'm in the mood for a more realistic multiplayer experience I'll put in Bad Company 2. If I'm looking for a quick rush I'll play MW2.

It's win, win either way.

The reason I stopped playing it was because it stopped being a fair competition and became an exploit showcase. I did get a lot of playtime out of it, especially with spec ops but there was really no reason for me to go back to it once I finished with that.

Great article. This guy feels exactly the same way I do. I played the game for a few weeks then I had to put it down because the maps designs are god awful and the perks make it so the game is ruined. If you get rewarded for kill streaks, then you're gonna have players who refuse to play the fun way and they'll camp and ruin the game. COD 1 thru 3 were great but the MW games ruined it. The reason the older ones are better is because the WWII weaponry is better for video games. You cant snipe a guy with a fully automatic rifle. Thats not fun. It's lame. The WWII style games may have been done to death, but they work. The guns are more balanced and the matches are more fun. You cant even play more than a 10 minute match on these new games. That's lame. What happened to the 60 minute sessions of War? The new games are for kids with ADD who just wanna rank up. Theres absolutely no fun or strategy in that. Anyone can hide in the corner and rank up. Does that make it a good idea?

I play it all the time - but in truth the multiplayer is so volatile its unbelievable. The game itself is built on killstreaks which are easily obtained via camping.

I tried to pick up and play Modern Warfare 2 the other day and just couldn't get into it. BFBC2 just floats my boat more and I have more fun playing it. No more money from me Activision, sorry. I played single then mutliplayer, prestiged and then left after a few more weeks. I then moved to BC2, loved it for a couple of months then realised more games had come out and I was stuck in the multiplayer circle.
Once I got the addiction out of my blood, I realised there was some real games out there to be played.
