THQ has filed a domain registration for something called Red Faction: Battlegrounds, and while a web address may or may not constitute a new game, it’s suspected this is the arcade prequel to Red Faction: Armageddon Danny Bilson mentioned for PSN and XBL back in June.
THQ reported its financials this week, and the previous quarter was not very kind to the firm, as it lost over $30 million. However, you have to spend money to make money, and as it promised back in the spring, the publisher is extending its properties into other media formats.
One of these is a film called Red Faction: Origins which is slated to air on SyFy in March 2011 to coincide with the release of Armageddon. There is also the Partners program, which has already signed Double Fine, Valhalla Game Studios and is rumored to be working on a multi-title deal with director Guillermo del Toro.
Ian Fisher writes: In this day and age it’s rare that we see 2D side-scrolling action games pop up. Sadly the genre that was once so popular in video games has become a niche of sorts on consoles or the go-to genre for web based games. But the genre is slowly making a comeback with Klei Entertainment’s action filled game Shank at the forefront.
Set to release next week on the PSN, XBLA and PC, I was able to talk to Jamie Cheng, the founder and CEO of Klei. Mr. Cheng was nice enough to spare some time out of his busy schedule to discuss what Shank is all about along with discussing indie games and the status of digitally distributed games.
News just in from Gamescom - Ubisoft has renamed XBLA, PSN and PC title Project Dust to simply 'From Dust'.
Capcom are unveiling their next Bionic Commando 3D side-scrolling action game dubbed Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 at GamesCon.
Capcom have promised several improvements including a makeover on the 'bionic arm.'
This is GREAT news, overall.
This, along with Pixel Junk Monsters, was the best DD title of 08'.
Making over the bionic arm makes me nervous though.
If its not a fps, then i dont even care.
