True gamers always getting the shi*ty end of the stick

"I have noticed that we true fans always get, to put it frankly, the shitty end of the stick. We buy a game for full price on the first day, then when some DLC comes out we spend (on Xbox) 800-1200 Microsoft Points on each piece of DLC."

At least EA is getting it right with BFBC2, if you buy it new you pretty much get all DLC for free i believe.

blahblah5042d ago (Edited 5042d ago )

i'm buying it... just to support this line of bussiness. although i don't even play fps games, but maybe this will help shifting business model from worst to at least somewhat fair

i will never buy fallout again for example. bought fallout for 65eur. just for them to release dlc and drop original game to 25. buying dlc or buying disc version was almost the same cost so i bought goty edition for another 65eur and then simply gave old one to a friend of mine who couldn't afford it (i could maybe get 12eur for old one, so i saw more worth in giving it to someone else).

and for what did i pay 130eur (173$)? for a fucking game that botched on certain size of save file (tried reloading older, same shit) so i couldn't even play one dlc story. going trough f3 again? nah, no worth

we europeans are already on the short stick as we pay games way more expensive than others. game is 65 eur here which comes to 86.5$. we get releases as the last, we payed more for our ps3 (and i have 3 of them).

well, if business model doesn't shift to fair. i'm going with pc and pirated games next time. i gave my best and bought around 120 ps3 games simply because i'm avid gamer, but somewhere is the position where i draw the line

blahblah5042d ago (Edited 5042d ago )

and decide on not buying those games. Assassins Creed 2 and Ubisoft... yes, you...

i don't fuckin mind if multiplayer maps are part of dlc... but... chapter 12 and 13 of the main story??? no... i won't buy dlc... i won't even buy another "Complete" for 20eur, i already payed full price to preorder. next AC i'm waiting and god knows AC was not high on my list, but i'm only buying it in "Complete" for less than half price and even that only if there is not other game i'd play.

god knows i did that to Prince of Persia. i bought all PoP (i still preordered 4th even though Two Thrones sucked badly) till last on release date. Forgotten sands... not... sorry... paying extra for main story? you can stick it as far as i care

cheaper and full release is ment for people who didn't buy the game and weren't really interested? well... i'm not pissed or bitching like original poster... i'm simply moving into that group which is more appreciated from Ubisoft side... and when something isn't new and fresh i often put it down in favour of something new and fresh

psp go got a price drop and like 4 free games months after it was out.

What did early adopters get? A version of rock band unplugged that had 5 songs on it. That game already sucks so it's just adding insult to injury.

I hate it how early adopters usually get screwed over.

Aside from the fact you swore on both the title and within this (which kids can read, the most you should be able to say is "Butt". I notice that all your points make no sense, especially the last statement "REAL" Fans would understand that companies start having difficulty selling things.
And what's with that whole pounds thing? How about something for us Americans? So they release map packs cheaper and such.
Also your punctuation is way off...
I bet he was denied from angry gamer...

blahblah5041d ago (Edited 5041d ago )

$ value is so low you already pay the least, can't get any cheaper. where you pay 50$, eu ppl pay 50eur. that goes for all games, even those made in eu. not that i care, but since you already pay so low, why not rather asking free games. wouldn't make much difference from a little less.

internet is full of p0rn already, keeping nice and PG words on one site won't make it holy. or do you piss in the ocean and then measure how much has water level raised? if something is fucked up like paying 173$ for Fallout that botches on save size, it deserves description like COMPLETELY FUCKED UP

you must be denied from the race of sane people who actually think what they read. i'm not angry, i'm just moving to more appreciated class aka. later buyers who get more for less (only games and companies that have this practice like Ubisoft where 2 games in a row were uncomplete). i like games full (i even said i don't mind multiplayer maps as payable dlc, god knows i bought a lot of them and never said one word about unfair). but, why paying extra large sum for a game that is actually very low on the list of my interests, just to get complete content since my original purchase was 70% of it? i actually bought AC2 to support making of well done games. game with missing content is not "well done" and supporting/buying that means just escalation of this practice. and if you are big enough moron to agree with that... who am i to stop you? i don't care even remotely if you exist.

but hey, at least your answer was moronic and OT enough to deserve response.

try doing this little math. if i would be cheap moron like you said... 120x65eur(86.5$)=whole fucking lot if you actually bother to multiply. and if more games which cut story out as additional cost starts appearing my next term will simply be pc+120x0. without any anger. lol, i might be even glad how much money i saved. and i promise you... if i encounter partial game then, i'll just say it is worth its value.

i never said i'm REAL fan. i said i'm avid gamer who is even willing to buy game he won't even play just to support user friendly practice. BFBC2 is fps and i hate fps.

p.s. english is my fourth (by usage and seventh in a row of nine) language, so i don't really care much about my spelling

p.p.s. did this made more sense?

Thought I was the only one who remembered Trinity lol very underrated

WET and Quantum Theory were both phenomenal

I remember Stranglehold! One of the first DLC packs of its time. A bit expensive, but cheap by today’s standards.

Another PS3 hidden gems list, and yet again Time Crisis 4 and Time Crisis Razin' Storm get snubbed. Such fun games, that shouldn't be forgotten. If only we got a home port of Time Crisis 5: Mastermind Edition.
