Source: High Voltage Software lays off at least 20 employees

Joystiq writes: "A trusted source informs Joystiq that at least 20 staffers have been let go from High Voltage Software, the development studio behind The Conduit and its upcoming sequel. While the initial account cited between 20 and 30 layoffs, the final tally could be "a lot more," according to our source. We're currently working to get an official comment and further clarification from High Voltage".

Probably the Tournament of Legends teams and I can't say I'm surprised, there was no enthusiasm for the game and it got appalling review scores.

The lukewarm sales of Iron Man 2 probably worked against them as well.

If the game were higher quality though, they could have avoided this.

Lets hope Conduit 2 and The Grinder don't suck.

Tournament of Legends ended up being out of their control.
I think they started off with Gladiator A.D., and pitched it to different publishers; and were told, "We won't fund this, it needs changes first."

I'm guessing Sega told them they would give them a certain amount of funding for Tournament of Legends, if the changes were made, and that is the only reason Tournament of Legends ended up being what it was...to get some funding instead of none.

The Grinder has me concerned, as it doesn't seem like there is much direction on that game. Conduit 2 seems like it may be decent, but with these layoffs happening, I wonder if the employees will start speaking about what is going on.

Agreed. I'm unsure of how to feel about the whole ordeal considering we still got Splatoon out of it.
