Think the console war is over? Hah! Not even close. It took a few years but The Big 3 are all finally hitting their stride with great games, new SKUs, and increased social connectivity; and this year, with Kinect and Move looking to creep in on the Wii's turf, the console war is at Defcon 1. Which console will come out as this generation's big winner is still up for grabs.

My PC is for all my FPS and RTS games (which are simply better on a PC) while the PS3 makes a great complement with its remarkable lineup of exclusive games. I got my PS3 slim Oct. last year after the Slim launch and price drop. It's been a great purchase. I really enjoyed the major exclusives (like UC 1 & 2, Infamous, GOW3, Heavy Rain) with some others that are not available on my PC (like Red Dead Redemption, Fight Night 4, Madden 10) and ones that are just better on the PS3 than the PC (like FIFA 10).

Most of the 360 exclusives are also on PC and usually better so I haven't seen it being necessary to buy a 360 plus it's annual fee. Before you argue Live cross game chat, we PC gamers have already had it for ages with TeamSpeak and Ventrillo (all free, by the way). In fact, with my PC and PS3 connected to the same LCD HDTV, my friends and I have the ability to cross-platform chat. Also, the games that are truly exclusive, like Halo, I'm just not interested in since PC FPS's are so much better in my opinion (better graphics, better framerates, more players, plus keyboard/mouse is the better control scheme).

That's the one I have--the 80GB backwards compatible model. I love it.

It gives me Blu-ray, nearly 100% backwards compatibility (at least it has worked with every PS2 game I own), built-in Wifi, card readers, and plenty of USB ports. I realize the Slims have most of that stuff too and they are also great systems.

It really is a pretty amazing piece of hardware. It plays three generations of games (PS1, PS2 and PS3), two generations of movie formats (DVD and Blu-ray), CDs and Super Audio CDs, and allows you to browse the internet.

I also love that it uses standard components for many things such as the hard drive and the USB cables that charge the controllers. If I want a larger hard drive I simply have to buy an affordable standard 2.5" SATA hard drive. If I want a longer cable for my controller I can buy a regular USB cable for a couple of dollars.

On my 360 I still only have a 20GB hard drive because I bought it at launch and the 120GB proprietary hard drives that the 360 requires are too expensive. My cable for my controller has also been shorting out and losing connection, so I have to buy the proprietary cable that costs $20. If it was my PS3 I could get the cable for about 3 dollars.

Anyway, those are some of the things I love about my PS3. I just wish it performed better with multi-platform games. It would easily be my favorite console. I like the 360 because it has some exclusives I like such as Gears of War and Halo, and because it performs well on multi-platform games.

But the hardware features, free online, reliability and exclusives are much better on the PS3.

The Wii can't hang with PS3 or 360 in terms of quality games. The numbers don't lie. The Wii has the lowest average Metacritic score for its games. It also has the most games rated 7/10 and lower.

PS3 IMO is the "best" of all the consoles this gen. Blu Ray, Free Online, Compatability with all kinds of accessories (Keyboards, Mouses, Headsets, etc.) which doesn't require a proprietary accessory, interchangable HDD, and the BEST EXCLUSIVE GAMES. After that long list its amazing to think that since 07, PS3 has been pumping out exclusive after exclusive. Their deep studio stable has been showing its muscle and to think we still have GT5, Twisted Metal, ICO projects, and so many more franchises from the PS past yet to hit the PS3.

While 360 is solid gamewise and has a lot f great gaming experiences, the PS3 has the best game library (Who'da thought back at the start of 2007), and the most features BUILT IN.

PS3 gives the consumer the most bang for their buck.

Madden was always inferior on the SNES...in fact, most of the Madden's I saw were downright TERRIBAD.....awful.

Back then my older brother, his friends and me and my friends, and pretty much everybody I knew were HEAVILY into MADDEN and other sports games (That was when they actually made vast improvements year over year unlike today).

Any self respecting sports fan HAD TO HAVE a Genesis and SNES was mostly an afterthought, at least here in America.

SNES eventually won the generation, but it was only through attrition, and they most certainly lost alot of their marketshare that they had with the NES previously.

Genesis was a beast in the 4th gen.

I don't give a fuck about graphics and exclusives...I only want fun and enjoyable experiences off and online with the best community and that is with Xbox 360.

Just because one system can do animations better with more polygons doesn't make it better.

My ps3 sits and collects dust per exclusive release. So since God of War 3 it's just sitting there.....

I don't play it because I have some fanboy resent to it....I don't play it often because I have no reason other than to play the games I want to play on it.

My Xbox offers the most diverse experience for me...I can game...chat with friends over the years...find the most active players...find the most competitive play8ers...use the easier features....play with the better feeling controller (excluding dpad)...and play the better games. I dont know about the Wii but, I own both ps3 and 360. I use the ps3 for its bluray capabilities and exlusives, and also the 360 for its exclusives. In my personal opinion, I think both are great systems. I think the Wii is targeted for kids, but Move and Kinect are both coming out later this year, so its all good.

Sony is the industry's hero. Whilst Microsoft is offering rehashes of their old franchises, shooter after shooter, robbing their consumers blind and putting their resources into a motion camera which will do nothing for games that people actually care about. Sony is offering so much more in terms of quality, quantity and variety and bringing classics to their system. Games with real identity.

The Wii actually has more classic and defining games than the 360 does.

Don't get me wrong, the 360 has its share of great games, and has the best online service hands down, but in regards to games, there's not much that make it truly special compared to the other two.

The 360 has the games I want to play. I want to play Halo 3, Mass Effect, Gears 2, Halo Wars, and I can't do that on another console. Really the only game that's made me wish I had a PS3 thus far is Killzone 2. I'm NOT saying the PS3 doesn't have good games, I'm just saying I think the 360 caters to my likes better than the PS3.

Lets face it, the majority of games these days are multiplatform. The benefits of owning multiple consoles (especially ones as similar as the 360 and PS3) are becoming less and less.

It's really a case of personal preference. I can respect those who prefer the 360 just like I respect those who prefer the PS3 or the Wii. It comes down to which one fills your needs, and fits your style. Fanboyism aside, we're all gamers, and we should be respectful of everyone's preferences.

Best case scenario IMO is buy all the supposed XBox exclusives that you feel like playing for PC instead, cuz srsly, who doesnt have a PC in this day and age. You'll be treated with better graphics and MP and you dont have to worry about crap like batteries(luls) and you get the best of communication options( keyboard when you dont feel like chatting with 10 year olds and headset when you do)
Buy a PS3 for the blu-ray movies and the largest library of "true" exclusives(ie. not timed, not"also on PC").

When the holidays come around and people start asking what you want, make sure you tell all of them you want a wii and hint at collaborating. o.O
All the crap about no new IPs on wii and shovelware is true but you still can't get Metroid or Zelda anywhere else :(

Now you got the big 3 at this point and one was free. With the amount of good games that actually come out for Wii, you can ask for a game at Xmas and your bday and you're covered. Spend your hard earned dollars on ps3 exclusives cuz you know you can't keep up...they're endless.

As to PC, if you do pick up any quality games for PC you know you wont be playing anything else for the next 2-3 years anyway(ie.WoW, Diablo, SC, any MMO basically)

I think the PS3 is the best. They say the PS3 isn't sexy. Are you kidding me. There is nothing sexy about the 360. What doesn't add up is the fact that the 360 slim still scratches disc. As far as sales, we all know that the PS3 is the 3rd fastest selling console. Its selling faster than the 360.

I own all 3 systems, and I love all of them to be frank. The Wii gets the edge in my opinion, however, because of the virtual console, and the full gamecube backwards compatibility. It's like 6(or more) systems in one!
By the way, I hate fanboy arguments! All 3 of the systems are awesome! I won't say anything bad about any of them regarding games. All of the systems have a stellar lineup! Uncharted/2, Mass Effect/2, Zelda: Twilight Princess, No More Heroes/2, Super Mario Galaxy/2, Fatal Frame 4(imported it), God of War III, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Star Ocean 4 International... can't go wrong!

I've never regretted for an instant buying any of them. Ok, maybe for about a day when my Xbox RRODed. Fixed her up soon enough though, and was back together in no time! Couldn't stay angry for long, right?

360 for the games. Metacritic says it has over 40 games rated 80 or higher than the PS3, and I definitely play a lot more games on my 360.

But the PS3 is great as a multimedia machine if you care about bluray, which I do. And the Wii is great as something quirky, something different.

So they all have their advantages. Discussion over.

Nintendo is the best... and always has been. Nintendo has given us the Shoulder Buttons, the Analog Stick, and Motion Sensing controls. If Nintendo wasn't the best, then Sony AND Microsift would not be copying them. Face it, you're either buying a Nintendo.... or you're buying a system that will eventually copy Nintendo.
