Gametrailers: Starcraft 2 Review

The wait is finally over as the three powerful races return for another bout amongst the stars. Was Blizzard's pinnacle RTS worth the wait?

An excellent score. Interesting to know that the campaign ends abruptly, but I was expecting that already.

The game is poised to become one of my favorite games ever. Hopefully the modding community will deliver soon, because that's the only area Starcraft has (so far) disappointed. But, I can't expect excellence that fast.

and I can tell you its one of the best RTS games ever.. its responsive as hell (perfect for amazing SC players with 200 apm and above)

I cant believe that the wait is over.. I finished 11 missions .its so beautiful.

200 APM? You must be watching American Starcraft 2 and even then some low level play.

300+ APM is the norm for competitive play, no joke.

EDIT: So did GT give up the thing about marking down for being unoriginal? After UC2? Because MW2 wasn't original yet it received a GREAT SCORE! This from the review wasn't all that original yet it received a GREAT SCORE, Uncharted 2 added multiplayer and CO-OP but wasn't original enough?

this aint a PS3 review and you cant compare a pc game to a console, take off the fanboy goggles.

And yea, multi and co-op AINT ORIGINAL seeing as how other games have had it for years.

And finally, why give 2 sh!ts about a review if you like a game? To me anything about 7 for SC2 is too damn high seeing as the damn thing is basically the same as the first but look prettier.

Reviews are a good starting point to get an idea if you will like a game or not, but you cannot take them 100% seriously. What if the reviewer is just not in the mood for an FPS and is given the best FPS released in years to review, I'm sure the score will be marked down, it's all about moods.

I've played the same game a few months later that I previously thought was amazing but on the 2nd play I was like meh. But maybe that's just me.

@darkfocus, you are probably right with the people on this site but I do not see that as a valid reason to disagree, Just because they played better does not mean that the poster has. Murderdolls comment was that it was the best they had played, to disagree is to say that they have played better. I would think they themselves would know if they had played better.

I haven't played it yet, but an abruptly ending campaign doesn't go well with me for the simple fact I dont play online multi-player.

But It's gonna take a hell of an RTS to overcome Sins of A solar empire for me. That is one of the best RTS games out there when it comes to time put in IMHO. You could literally play one "campaign" for months. That game is still my favorite.

I still like Supreme Commander and The total War series, but Sins took single player RTS games in a different direction and another level.

I'll pick up StarCraft 2 soon. The reviews are begging any self respecting pc gamer to, LOL

Sc2 is nothing more than another usual style of clickfest rts. And it didnt even try to create something innovative they just copied the starcraft and make it look like they created the god of rts while its nothing more that a copy of and old game with better graphics and a lot of marketing to make it look like its the perfect game, Its not

lol you got to be kidding me, I am amazed Blizzard even bothered with Dx9 I am sure they could have come up with some excuse to make this game DX8 /sarcasm off.

This game is designed so it can run on extremely low hardware (by today's standards) so no this does not support Dx11 (it will run fine on Dx11 capable machines but you won't see any extra graphical niceness), it is a Dx9 game. Hell this game doesn't even have Anti-Analising unless you force it via the driver control panel.

You have a pretty strange definition of "high" then if you consider the requirements high for this game. The official system requirements are :-

Minimum Requirements

2.6 GHz Pentium® IV or equivalent AMD Athlon® processor
128 MB PCIe NVIDIA® GeForce® 6600 GT or ATI Radeon® 9800 PRO video card or better 12 GB available HD space.

Recommended Requirements :-

Dual Core 2.4Ghz Processor
2 GB RAM
512 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800 GTX or ATI Radeon® HD 3870 or better

Seriously if you think a dual core + a 4 year old graphics card = "high" requirements then god help you with other games.

As it stands this game is a Dx9 game it does not support Dx10 or Dx11 (but naturally the game will run if you have a Dx10 or Dx11 system)

it ran like shit on my laptop the first time, but I turned all settings to minimum and it ran silky smooth, and let me tell you it didnt look ugly at all. Runs great on my desktop with all max settings though, and its not a high end rig.

sorry i am going to have to skip this game. only got into 2 RTSs and Starcraft was one of them. my Activision ban is what is stopping me, so unless my cousin, the only other PC gamer i know, i won't be playing this anytime soon. the $60 price tag alone is enough to remind me why i boycott Activision.

just don't understand gamers. we all bitched about Activision but people still buy their games. PC gamers always proclaim how great it is to get games cheaper than consoles, and if publishers where to charge the same as on consoles we would revolt.

when it comes time to show the power of the consumer we buckle, and prove that the publisher have all the power. lets be honest, Activision has under charged for this game. 95% of the people would of gladly paid $75-100
