GamesRadar: The characters seem too hardened. There's no softness to Amaterasu, who has always been a powerful yet gentle character. The vacant look in the eyes, the snarling mouth... it's just too cold.
Artist Chris Cayco, who we’ve featured a few times before on Kotaku, grew up playing Marvel vs. Capcom (and Marvel vs. Street Fighter) games. His tribute to this, which took him over 175 hours, was to combine every single character to ever appear in Capcom’s crossover series in the one enormous image.
Makes me despise Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite that much more
So much wasted potential
As common as it is today, it is hard to believe that there was a time where gaming franchises crossing over was just a pipe dream. Capcom broke down the wall, but they took the combination of some of the most unlikely of franchises and made it the norm.
Whether it was a colossal successful partnership with Marvel Comics or a collaboration with rivals Namco and SNK, the “Vs.” series brought unforgettable experiences to the fighting genre.
Marvel doesn't just have a bright future ahead of it in films, but in the gaming realm as well. Some exciting new titles are showing up on all hardware, so does that mean gamers are finally catching up with the MCU?
After looking back at the colorful sprites and some of the characters renditions in Tatsunoko vs Capcom, i kind wish they would use a little more color in place of the black outlines; but thats just me.
Like classic cartoons of our past, 2-d characters stand out. Not only do they stand out, but they stand the test of time. There is a distinct art style one has to make and strive for when being limited. You have to make each character stand out on his own. Back in the 8 and 16bit days this was done by talented artist and designers. Now, not so much. Still very talented, don't get me wrong. I could never do what they do. But there is a certain charm and character lost within the new generation of gaming. We've traded memorable for more realistic. And I don't agree with it.
as they seem more fitting for the Marvel universe. Chun Li's b*** got big... I was actually expecting the art to change especially this age where we have more resources and softwares. The mix of japanese and western rendition is the way to go because we are dealing with two popular franchises, so I really don't understand the whole point of this article to begin with. We can't simply be selfish and just do everything capcom style just to retain the classic cartoon feeling and then sacrifice Marvel's signature art. I understand things are always memorable in the past, but there are moments where we need to be more forgiving. They can make the game like it used to be, so they are not being lazy like you think. They are in the process of experimenting though.
sometimes it just looks bland. It's suppose to look like comic book art but sometimes it just looks plain 3d.
char models suck just like sfiv char models
