I remember I had one of those Action Replay Memory cards or whatever it was called. Had the bigger 64MB of storage but everytime you wanted to use it, you'd need to start the AR disc up first. One night I remember my brother broke the disc and my whole night was blown - all my saves gone.

A few days ago I was replaying GTA III on PC. I was 90%+ and instead of choosing load i clicked delete. :) My other save was around 40 lol.

I was playing gta3 in the ps2 days and decided to put in some cheat codes to put tanks in the game. Little did I know that saving with cheats enabled destroyed my saved game. I was pissed because I never did beat gta3 after that.

My 60 gig died 5 months ago. I was so sad. Mostly cause I was level 29 on Fallout 3 and I haven't been to Point Lookout yet, and was 125 hours in. But I did some open heart surgery and fixed it and then got all that data off there. I just redownloaded all the PSN stuff. The LBP was the worst, since that was a lot of content and dlc.

Morrowind. I was adding some mods to the game and accidentally corrupted my save file in the process. Lost about 100 hours of play and had to start another game (and the story alone takes over 60 hours to beat by most estimates).

In second place is my Call of Duty Classic save that my little brother deleted. I was on the last mission on Hardened and had to restart from the beginning (and it's not an easy game, I might add).

I'd forgotten how much time I lost due to saves or lack thereof on Morrowind. Great game but damn it was glitchy (on xbox anyway).

I've also lost about 30% on Far Cry 2 but that was dozens of hours I cared not to relive so I never went back to beat the game.

Most I ever lost was on Monster Hunter on PS2. One of my characters had over 600 hours on it (not the one with the most btw, but anyway). I sat pretty far away from my PS2. the controller cord was almost extended completely. One time when exitting the online, it started the autosave. I sneezed and my legs kicked up, toes snagged the controller cord and when they came back down they pulled out the controller.........corrupted save. I was friggin' fit to be tied.

I had a multi-page memory card on the PS one when I was playing Final Fantasy 7... I played all the way to the final Sephiroth battle, then it disappeared. I was amazed, but it was my only memory card, so I tried again. Up to the third disc. Save disappeared. I tried one last time. Up to the second disc. Save disappeared.

I was on the last battle in COD:WaW, about 75% through Red Dead Redemption and just starting the last battle in Dragon Age: Origins (after like 40-50 hours playing). Then I got the YLOD on the old PS3. I was choked and said piss on it, and decided it would be a summer without video games, I will wait until the PS3 Move Bundle comes out in september. It does piss me off that I cant get that save data from my PS3, even though my hard drive is fine.

I had pretty much everything unlocked for LittleBigPlanet, but it was the US version because I bought it on eBay (not wanting to wait another week due to the delay) and ended up having to buy the PAL (UK) version of the game if I wanted any DLC to work :(

Same thing happened to me, I was in the middle of a save and the power went out and corrupted the file. Then a second time when my 60G PS3 died I could not transfer the file because of the copy protection on it.

my ps3 broke on platinum and 4 chars built (3x120 and 1x712, all achieved fair and square)

although achieving that back was fun (now I have plat on 2 ps3 on 2 versions), except i didn't bother with 712... after 120 game becomes lonely.

fallout 3 on the other hand was a pain when my save started freezing after buying GOTY. It was simply too much pain to replay whole game, so I never finished even one DLC mission

My Demon's Souls NG+++++++ (I was on Valley Of Defilement) character got corrupted.
That was probably the most tragic loss I've experienced. v_v

Oh, and I replaced my PS3's hard drive and lost all those saves. But that was intentional, so.....

In DS online is 99% of the fun, I only replay game out of boredom to have upgraded weapons I can give to other people who need them.

I lost about 20 hours of game play from Fallout 3, after it froze up one second after saving. It would freeze as soon as I tried loading that save file, and because I had kept overwriting the same save file, I had to go back to a really old save to play without completely starting over.

Damn that game was f*cking buggy.

The other two that really pissed me off was losing all progress in Grid (after unlocking everything), and GT5 prologue (also after unlocking everything). Reason? My POS PS3 bricked on me.

I was at the part where you had a meeting to discuss the final battle... Over 60 hours in... And my PS3's Blu-Ray Player broke down on me one night. Sent it for repairs, and had it formatted.

last november I got the ylod on my phat and lost all my game saves from all my games going back to ps1 and ps2 games (I transfered everything!!!!!)

Pokémon Red, I accidently saved over my data when I was a kid, I hated myself for it at the time but it actually worked out for the best because I didn't make the same mistakes twice i.e. saving after knocking out a legendary bird.

A more recent one is Killzone 2, I got right to the very end (shamefully only got up to the last boss) and my phat PS3 broke, and annoyingly, GG won't allow us to back up our KZ2 saves. At least my trophies were preserved...*Sighs*

For the games I can backup, I do so regularly uing a USB stick. I advise everyone to do the same.

I've had 2 ylod's...the 1st of which wiped out the save on two accounts that had LittleBigPlanet 100% on each. That still hurts...also lost Killzone 2, Motorstorm Pacific Rift and Uncharted 60% complete on Elite!!!!!!!!!...in fact loads more..I had most backed up but many are copy protected

Sony please give cloud storage to us psn + subscribers that 1 feature will be worth the price of entry and will see subscriptions soar I am sure

1st time ever had this problem was original tomb raider on ps1. I remember switching on I think I had 2 levels to go to complete and there was no save data..I remember a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach when I realized my cheapo memory card had crashed.

The loss of all those hours is so gutting..still did not prepare me for the loss felt by a ylod though

first ever was when playing rayman for ps1. had a standard mem card. for some reason the saves keep corrupting after a while playing rayman. so by the time i reached mr stone or space mama. the save point gets corrupt and i have to redo everything. next wud be Super Smash Bros Melee. dunno how it happened but after i went on to unlock everything that was unlockable and acquired w/e was possible to get lost it all when my ex gf got pissed at me one night and use the format option to delete everythign. yeah i still talk to her but if my wife sees her she be a dead woman. last as i am going to end this wud be god of war 2 the last savepoint before u go fight with zeus which wud be at the chamber of time, was saving and lightning struck, electricity was cut out and and after it came back my ps2 saves for GoW2 was corrupted. god that still ticks me off to this day.
