I mean come on 10 was the first time he's ever seen porn. I ran across my dad's vintage Playboy collection when I was like 4 with a friend. Mom wasn't too happy with Dad about that one. Oh man.... childhood memories.
Was it like child porn or something? Because serious over reaction here if someone got the FBI involved.
I'm also curious to know what game he was playing, Seeing as they didn't mention it in the article, and well ya know, if the person was on Call of Duty sending it to him, it is a 17 or older game.
I'm with Guntrol in this one. I can see why some parents would be mad about it but personally I don't intend to raise my childs with tales about white stork or cabbage patch.
@Hellangelzx
Child porn is not the only category of child molest crime, at least here in brazil, exposing a child to age restricted material, like adult porn, can be considered depending on the case (obviously not if a child steal a parent's magazine and bring it to school or somekind of "innocent" prank).
Last I checked Xbox Live did not endorse pornography. So it's not only that he shouldn't have been there, but there shouldn't have been pornography on it either.
Stop constantly blaming parents, kids, and Xbox. Whoever sent it is not only violating TOS but committing a crime.
It's funny: We gamers blame the guys blaming and stereotyping the industry in a bad light yet you have no problem doing the same. Not all kids are annoying brats, not all parents are negligent and careless, and there is no excuse to send porn to a minor. It's indecent and unlawful.
Kinda reminds me of the South Park episode where Butters watches 'Backdoor Sluts 9'... and i quote "whoa! whats going on down there?"*Butters looking at groin*
cuz there's only one pedophile in the world on just one service...
Odds are it's probably happening every day on both systems. It's sick, but parents have to keep a better eye on their kids. There's a reason they put parental controls on the devices and there's a reason the online experience isn't rated by the ESRB.
I'm assuming PSN has the same friends-only communication settings that XBL does, so it's not like it's the systems' faults. It's stupid parents that think their children can do no wrong.
From an NBC website: " A Texas mother is outraged after her 11-year-old son was sent pornography by an online gamer he met while playing his Nintendo Xbox."
NINTENDO XBOX!?!?! And they say I'm the hadicapped one. NBC FAIL.
Well, it's grammatically correct... just technically wrong haha.
Editors should be all over that but then again, young editors at major publications are nearly non-existent. it's a position of experience... and sometimes that can clearly bite you in the ass. :)
hmm...seems as tho the mother is more than informed on electronics to the point were she knows who to call and what to call about, and even use the site to file complaints...but wasnt smart enough to use the parenting options on the xbox itself
however, i dont exactly know what you can control with parenting options cause i havent checked it
meanwhile the kid was probably a griefer shrieking that everybody was a N-word f*g. shit like this just doesn't happen out of thin air. it clearly states he got it as a response to a message he sent-
"Rosie's son sent a message to one of those players challenging him. She says that player then sent her son the pornographic pictures."
DizzleK I tend to disagree with a lot of things you say. But for once I must agree with you on this part. These kids tend to say a lot of things which is not good BUT there is no Law saying they can't say the N word.
Regardless whoever sent him the porn is wrong. This is why Sony Microsoft does not have porn available at all on any of the Market places because of nonsense like this. Regardless I don't know why the culprit was even sending porn. People need to wake up and keep gaming and jerking off to themselves.
You are subject to the laws of a country were the online crime was committed and were the effects of the online crime occurred. If you are living in Korea and you hack into the CIA at Langley Virginia. Then you will receive a visit from your local police and then the FBI. Violators are subject to International Criminal Courts.
LOL, I love these articles.. she sure is fast to deal with the culprit but in all fairness.. this what will happen if you let an 11 year old use a service which deals with a lot of adult content. Perhaps she should probably look at whether or not her son should actually even be allowed to use xbox box live?
Also the ironic thing is, it's probably a friend sending it to him thinking it's cool.
Sigh this is not good at all. But anyway whoever sent him this is obviously stupid as hell. First off why send porn on a video game console ? Second to a 11 year old ? Please we all know what 11 year old sounds like online so yeah there is by far no excuses for this crap.
No excuse for the parents failing to use the parental controls and allowing the xbox-live public to expose their child to porn. In this case I blame the parent. Not the victim and not just the violator.
Bottom line-When are parent's going to take ownership for their children??
I mean, Id've been upset & done the same things in response to the perv who sent him the ish...but MS has control options so this won't happen:
**Privacy and Friends: You have the power to approve your child's online friends. Let your child communicate with anybody or only with their friends, decide who can see your child's personalized profile, control who sees your child's online or offline status, and more.
But by the sounds of it (and by the rep of kids on XBL) he probably asked for it or had it coming! It was probably his deadbeat dad on the other end (ROFL).
Parental controls should have been used but why do we have to worry about porn being sent via a gaming network? When did all this stop being about having fun gaming? And to the people who said he was playing an M rated game, I am pretty sure that doesn't mean you should expect porn in your inbox.
U shouldn't EXPECT to see porn in Ur inbox on XBL...but the Parental Controls are their as a PRECAUTION. Internet/XBL, etc, u never know WHO's on the other end so it's best to useit for your kids.
You can't send files on xbox live to another gamer. Also in the article it says "This can only happen to your child if you pay for the Xbox online service". You can be silver "FREE" and still have links sent to you from friends. Also a 11 year old should not play online without a parent being involved. There is no ESRB rating for online play so you leave your kids open to what ever. This parent should be ashamed of themselves for being so stupid about video games. I bet he was playing GTA4 online when he got the info from the other gamer.
The kid got some porn sent to him from a friend and the kid popped a boner & decides to have a little jerking session lol. Well as he is enjoying his jerk off session his mom decides to suprise her son with a copy of crackdown 2 but walks in quietly and sees her son stroking away.
Slowly she drops the game (matrix effects) & then she screams like some1 died in shock only to see her son in shock aswell & disgraced & not knowing what to say but pointing at his screen blaming xbl while not even noticing his little pecker was stiff & viewable to his mother. This was the begining of little joey's story & how he went from being a normal 11 year old kid who enjoyed games to becoming a fine young man. The end. LOL.
Parents are quite happy to get games with 15 and 18 age ratings yet are the first to complain about the content, its a JOKE.
Why buy when your just going to bitch, did you miss the massive 15 and 18 sticker. Cry some more
Also I believe there should be a minimum age for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live 18 years of age should me minimum, so people can take some self responsibility
But still what was this guy thinking, I would not expect to receive images from someone I don't know, may be he thought it was funny but the funny thing is he's going to get banned
Yet again another ignorant parent fails to protect their child with parental controls. It is your responsibility as a parent to protect your child from e
I'm pretty sure that child already got a full box of porn under his bed. Jesus fricking Christ give me a break!
Welcome to the real world.
Every time I see these stories, it ALWAYS involves an Xbox. Hmmm...
From an NBC website: " A Texas mother is outraged after her 11-year-old son was sent pornography by an online gamer he met while playing his Nintendo Xbox."
NINTENDO XBOX!?!?! And they say I'm the hadicapped one. NBC FAIL.
Pfft maybe the little brat was the one sending porn and blamed others when they caught him.
