The Settlers is an economically based simulation game which sees you managing an entire community of people from the word go up until they have reached total domination. The aim of the game is to successfully manage your people and your resources in order to basically survive and then thrive in your environment. The game has proven a popular hit on the PC, but does the transition from PC to DS work?
The Settlers has a very strong following in the world of home computers, but the Nintendo DS's touch-screen control mechanism has allowed for such a strategy game to be easily ported over. Now the game has just recently launched on the Nintendo DS in the UK, and Cubed³ caught up with the game's developer for a quick chat.
I still play Settlers on my PC every now & then. I think that a Wii version would be great. I'd even take a virtual console one at this point.
Games like Age of Empires and Anno 1701 have shown that PC strategy games can not only work on the DS, but can make the switch from desktop to handheld with commendable success. Even the rather flimsy Sim City DS managed to offer something that at least worked as advertised. Settlers II is a great game. A classic. This version isn't. It's a travesty, and one that should never have been released. Without the fatal bugs it'd be a disappointing put passable conversion but you can't play a game not knowing when or if the game will actually work the way it's supposed to, or if saving your progress will cause it to crash. There's only one score for a game like this, and it ain't pretty: 1/10.
I predict you're gonna see all sorts of PS3 specials pretty soon and during the holiday. They can't afford to fall behind the XBOX 360 much further in install base. 2007 is a dangerous year for the PS3, but if they make it bye, I think they will be fine from then on.
People who are wanting a PS3 need to jump on this deal...just pay off your account, and then get the credit and then close the account. They will send you the $150 in a check. It may take 2 to 3 months...but if you do it now, you will have your money before christmas.
Sorry, I searched for the news but could not found.

Wow, in less than 38, EuroGamer gave a lowest and highest score. 1/10 for Settlers and 10/10 for BioShock.
