Alien Swarm is Free, Fun, and Full of Potential

Every once in a while a video game company does something worth telling the world about. Released yesterday, Valve’s new game Alien Swarm is one of those such things–and it wouldn’t have been possible without Steam and its large audience of varied gamers to distribute to.

I spent the whole night playing Alien Swarm with some pals of mine. It was every bit as fun as L4D before it. I'm looking forward to seeing a ton of new campaigns and maps soon.

It's one of those games that makes it hard for you to survive, like you got to conserve ammo. Weld doors shut, work as a team to stay alive and get deeper.

It came with modding tools, allowing people to make some crazy stuff.
And unlike most SDK, the map maker isn't too complicated

Probably in time, its based on L4D2 Source version, which they are still working on porting to OpenGL.

I'm digging it so far. I've been playing Medic with a few friends and it's definitely an enjoyable game. The unlocks are great too!
